Gibson for 4th overall +

Hey guys,

Standard cats dynasty in win now mode. Been offered 4th overall pick (shot at Svechnikov/Zadina/Tkatchuk/Boqvist) + Niederreiter, Brassard or Krejci for my Gibson. I am deep at goalies so I can afford to trade one away. But am quite thin on prospects especially centers and D.

What do you guys think ?

Can you counter with Quick? I'd much rather keep Gibby & Vasil together and be a top 5 team in goalie stats for the next decade. 4th & Nino, Krejci for Quick? otherwise I'd hold, I love having 3 stud goalies in a league. it's almost like a cheat code week to week.

In a start 2g, that offer seems light. unless it's a really small league.

So I think you have too many goalies but that being said to do this deal you would need to drop someone to fit into roster I believe so with that losing another player for that package isn't enough for me in a win mode.

I want more for Gibson.

I am with lucafen. I am keeping Gibson and if he wants a goalie, tell him you'd move Quick. I am not sure I'd even take that for Quick.

I want more than a good prospect pick and a guy who may or may not make my roster for a starting goalie.

If he was sending a solid D upgrade on Green, that would be a good thing.

How many do you start at each position?

What are your keeper rules, specifically for prospects?

I don't think this is enough for Gibson or for Quick due to a number of factors:
- In a 14 team 2G league, goalies get a bit of a boost in value
- The guys he's offering wouldn't really crack your starting lineup
- Your team is young enough that you don't really need any prospects

There's just no real benefit for you in this trade for Gibson or for Quick. You need an upgrade of some kind to make a move here.

There's not enough impact in this trade. Gibson is a high-end goalie.

So lotto ticket and a meh fantasy player for an elite goalie. He could offer up all those players and it would not sway my decision.

If I am trading Gibson I want a return that includes a Laine/Boeser/Eichel...etc.

Quantity for Elite should (usually) be an easy pass and end of discussion.

**ALSO WHILE WE ARE ON THE SUBJECT: While you say you are deep in net and can move a goalie, as soon as you make that move you are suddenly shopping for a goalie again. Darling is terrifying and Grubauer's value is highest to the Holtby owner. Having Vasilevski, Gibson and Quick in a start 2 league is awesome! Almost a guarenteed playof team.

If you have to cut goalies for other assets look at moving Darling and Grubauer. Or if you want to get creative, more Quick and Darling for Holtby.

Your big takeaway here is this isn't the deepest of leagues. If you're taking on the extra players while giving away the best asset in the trade, you're generally not going to win.
