From everything I've read, Tkachuk's upside is a 2nd line winger. Not a ton of points, but intangibles. I'd rather gamble on higher upside in Whalstrom...or take a D (Hughes or Boqvist). To me, 4th overall is too high for Tkachuk - I'd rather see them trade down if that's their target.

Mind you, this is based on what I've read so far. I'm just surprised that the consensus everywhere is that the Sens will take Tkachuk at #4 while, at the same time, NOBODY has Tkachuk listed as 4th best prospect.

IMO we need a guy with some spice. Team is bland. BT is just whats is needed..and he can put some points up..much like his bro with a bit more ugly.

nobody? That's not true. Did you not read Bob McKenzues latest rankings? Tkachuk is top 5 in every reputable source. He has first line upside

    Not a sens fan?
you can disregard anybody's opinion if they have merkley that high, let alone above Dobson. Dobson is ten times the prospect. It's not even close.

I know at one point, Tkachuk was number 2 on Button's list. I believe he had Dahlin, Tkachuk and Svechnikov as the top 3. Being a Flames fan, it would've been nice having our pick and by some miracle, BT dropped to us. Having him and Matthew? My God that would be amazing!

whether Ott takes Wahlstrom, Tkachuk, Bouchard, Boqvist, they're going to get a helluvaplayer. Period. Both Wahlstrom & Tkachuk offer things their forward group currently lacks in the top six. Either will be a huge hole filled.

One thing to be said with NYI drafting 11, 12. If Garth Snow is still GM - anything can happen - trading both picks to move up, trading one + other assets to move up, or trading one to move down to gain assets or players. Literally anything can occur with that man holding the reigns. Including trading the pick back to Calgary.... oh that'd be great!

I'd rather snow just use the 4 picks to restock the shelfs . Snag ty smith and veleno on day 1 and call it a day

I think Veleno has a chance to fall a lot on draft day. He lacks high end tools.

The fact that he's a center will still make him an attractive option. Not much for centers worth picking in this years draft.

Tkachuk is definitely a top-5 prospect - I just wonder if his recent announcement could hurt his stock even a little, especially if a team picking top 5 was hoping to see their 1st pick battle for a starting gig. Teams like Montreal and Ottawa have every incentive to "improve now" ... especially the Sens who have handed the Avs a non-protected 1st round pick.
