Looking to trade Tavares

Quick thoughts: is the first deal still worth it if it turns out to be JT +1st round (9th overall) vs Mackinnon + 4th round.

League Settings (the devil is in the details) Keep 7 + rookie, 10 team, 14 players H2H points only keeper league with cap (65M). 1 mandatory rookie active on the lineup, can keep 1 extra player if rookie eligible.

In a shallow 10 team cap league, I would make this deal in a heartbeat. This is a huge win in my opinion. This could be the best fantasy hockey trade you ever make - even if the pick is a 1st, not a 3rd.


EDIT:

It works out to MacKinnon + 35 OA (guestimate) for Tavares + 9th OA. (something like a dropping 26 spots in the draft)

9th OA works out to about the 79th best player available (10 teams, keep 7 = 70 keepers)
35th OA works out to about the 105th best player available

What you are downgrading in draft pick order is minimal when you consider you are getting an equal (or better) player in MacKinnon at 1/2 the cost of Tavares. In a cap league, this is an awesome move.

Hey guys! thanks for chipping and sorry for the delay!

This trade is actually still in the cards, as the new GM who took over the Gaudreau wont move him, the Eichel owner wants to wait the draft and FA period and the MacK owner got greedy and wanted Tavares + Pettersson

I plan to get back to him with Tavares + pick because he really loves the player and I believe he'll give up and accept tavares + 1st for a 4th ou even 3rd round going back my way.

Agree with the above, go after N Mack, cap wise gives you more options for better depth. If you have to give 1st get a lower pick back. Your cap room will make up pick difference. Hype up JT signinf with TO and playing with AM ot MTL - going to play first line wherever. Stays in NYI - top dog wherever he ends up.
