    Default Looking to trade Tavares

I'm trying to fetch a good price for Tavares while his value is still fairly high. It's a points only league (details in sig). Here are the offers on the table (besides staying put):

JT + pick (3rd round probably) vs MacKinnon
    JT + 1st round 2019 vs Eichel + 1st overall (probably Dahlin)
JT vs Gaudreau + some middle round picks

Is JT worth keeping even in his upcoming contract or should I push to make one of those deals?

    Thanks.

Value-wise, getting MacKinnon or Gaudreau for potentially 4-6 million dollars less than Tavares will cost is hard to argue against.

The first overall pick in that second offer doesn't impress me. Your league is shallow enough that Dahlin likely isn't worth rostering.

Those are all interesting deals. I agree with tobias about Mackinnon or Gaudreau, but I disagree about the second offer. I like it as well, since you have mandatory rookie spot.

I think if I took the 2nd deal, I'd turn around and shop the first overall pick. I suspect you could get a nice upgrade for dropping down some, and still end up with a solid propsect, plus a player or pick upgrade. I wouldn't take Dahlin, as he's a defenseman, and they rarely are point producers year 1.

I like the Gaudreau deal the most, though. You add picks, and get a player that is fairly similar.

MacKinnon at $6.3M or Tavares at $11M? That's ridiculous if you can land him with just a 3rd rounder added.

I am with JP. I'd do the MacKinnon deal.

Huge Mackinnon fan here, and I don't own him in any leagues.. I would do that deal before Mack wins the Hart trophy!!

I think Eichel has a huge jump in scoring on the near horizon, but in a cap league you can't ignore Mac's bargain price.

Quick thoughts: is the first deal still worth it if it turns out to be JT +1st round (9th overall) vs Mackinnon + 4th round.
The Gaudreau owner won't budge, so MacK becomes the most valuable player I could fetch for JT but I pay with a first

JT is going to cost way to much. Is $10-12m worth it for one player?

Yeah, I still think it's worth it for you. If it was a deep dynasty league maybe not, but I think the savings you'll have with MacKinnon vs Tavares (11ish?) will more than make up for the pick downgrade.

I would still do it, because Mackinnon is just ridiculous and the price is RIGHT

I like to rely on my drafting skills and acquire major assets, so I wouldn't mind the downgrade. Especially with the huge salary dump.

Based on the uncertainty of JT $$ value of his contract and where he is playing I like this deal. But this depends if you are a risk taker or not.

If you are a risk taker you might want to take the risk that JT signs somewhere like Toronto for a really good value, and has really good linemates... then this doesn't look like a good deal. But go in knowing fair well he could sign somewhere else for a huge contract.

    So to sum it up:

Safe play - trade for MacKinnon
Risk play - keep JT and hope he signs somewhere at a decent value (huge risk here though, but potential large reward)

This also depends on how much your league cap is going to go up in the next few years as well.

YES YES and YES. Make deal #1 ASAP.

JT + pick (3rd round probably) vs MacKinnon

Acquiring similar scoring stats at half the price (and locked in for five more seasons at $6.3M), by a player 5 years younger, and in a cap league... this could be the best fantasy hockey trade you ever make. JUMP ON IT!

+1 to this. Heck, I might even do that deal if it wasn't a cap league.
