Shattenkirk vs Theodore / Montour in Pts only!

Hi Everyone,

For Team #2... I am thinking of Trading Shattenkirk and keeping Theodore/Montour. The most I will get for Shattenkirk is a mid first rounder...and would be looking at a prospect.

Goals are worth 2pts for D. I going into next year, I would have Hedman, Werenski, Weber, Theodore or Montour.

for the next 2-3 seasons... does Shattenkirk have anything left, or should I sell while I can get something back?

I don't think the difference from Shatty down to the other two is that big, so if you can add a first for him I would go for it.

I would hold on to him, I think you would be selling low to trade now. He had 17 points in the first 18 games before going cold. You can almost pinpoint the exact time he got injured by looking at the point drop off. With McDonagh gone, he will be getting lots of ice time next year.

If you take a look at Shatty's numbers, I think you will see that he is basically a 40 - 45 pt D man, last year being the exception with 56 pts spread between the Blues and the Caps. Before the injury he was basically .5 pt per game with the Rags. So, the question is, is Shatty a 55 pt D man or a 45 pt D man? I'm thinking 45. Now the risky part, are Montour and/or Theodore 45 pt D? Do they have more upside? I think the answer is Yes for both questions. The last question is, will either Theodore or Montour break out for 45 points next season? I think there is a good chance that that could happen. So there is some risk here, but I'm thinking I move Shatty for a high end prospect (a h=low mid first rounder might get that done) and roll with one of Montour or Theodore. All depends on the return, 45 pt D men don't grow on trees and Shatty is still 29 years young, I do this but not for a mediocre return.

Hi Folks! No trade yet ... wow, I am happy I was patient with this one given injury to Weber!
My D are as follows in points league (2points for D goals) : Shattenkirk, Hedman, Weber, Werenski, Theodore, Montour
My current thinking is to package Weber (he won’t impact my team until 2019/20 given his return in Dec due to injury) and Montour to a team needing D help and willing to eat a roster spot with Weber.

That would leave me with Hedman, Werenski, Shattenkirk, and Theodore.

I also thought of dropping Drouin as my 7th fwd and dropping Weber (or trading him) keeping Theo and Montour ... but I think my strategy of keeping 4 D is ok given only the top 3 D count towards our pt totals.

Any other thoughts? Would anyone keep Weber?

Wishful thinking of getting any kind of substantial return from Weber. He is on a terrible team and will be out more than half the season and that?s assuming he comes back on time. If you have available IR spots throw him on there, otherwise he is droppable. I?d be comfortable going into the season with Hedman, Werenski, Shattenkirk and Theodore.

I agree - will be hard to move be Weber, I will see what I can get by adding Montour and a late pick.

Hi folks - just resending this one as I am coming close to a trade.

He os is asking for Shattenkirk and Weber for a 4th overall pick. One of: Pettersson, mitlestad, Svechnikov, debrincat, and butcher should be available at that spot - although I am not big on butcher (maybe I am missing something).

i would go into next season with Hedman, Werenski, Theo and Montour.

Should I push for Montour vs Shatty and Weber (Throw in at this point) or hit the accept button?

Any other thoughts?

asking for both, I'd see if you can get a second piece added on. Regardless of the size of the piece the OGM is getting a steal of a deal

Lucafen4 - he would be. Would you be pushing Montour instead you of Shatty? Weber alone will not get me a first rounder given his injury.
I am trying to get an upgrade in picks for the following year.
