    Default Keep Subban or Krug?

I planned on keeping both, but both guys have long term internal competition to worry about and I can use the extra keeper slot for either a forward or a goalie so I'm trying to decide which I could let go or trade before next season.

Subban is a little older and has both Josi and Ellis to compete with. Where would his production be if Ellis had been healthy all year? I really like PK as a player but opportunity is everything in fantasy. As for Krug, McAvoy has already taken top pairing duties and could some day take over PP1 as well. Maybe not next season but it's hard to say.

I'm leaning towards Krug here. He's younger, has a little less competition than Subban does, and his power play chops should hopefully keep him on that top unit next season.

    Thoughts?

I think I’d keep Subban. Yes they both have competition, but this year PK is showing he can still put up great numbers despite that competition (and there’s no team in the league that has more depth on D than Nashville). Subban has shown he can sustain high level production even if there are other star Dmen around him eating up minutes / points. Krug on the other hand hasn’t had a chance to prove that he can hold off the competition. Part of that is due to McAvoy’s injury this year (we don’t get to see how the 2 pan out over a full 82 games). But McAvoy is a real threat to steal time (and points) from Krug and I think he is the riskier guy to keep.

Also, in a start 3 goalie league is it risky to not keep 2 goalies? What kind of options were available to draft last year? I’d think strongly about keeping Talbot (or at least packaging him and one of Subban / Krug) for a keeper upgrade.

Krug has had two great years here in a row with 50+ points but I am still keeping Subban.. A healthy McAvoy would definitely hinder Krug's production.. Dubban is out there in all situations, he is the better guy to own..

Yeah the keeper slot I free up would most likely go to Talbot. I traded my first and second round picks to make my playoff push so I'd rather not have to wait until the 3rd round to try and salvage a starting goalie from the scrap heap. This is the first year of our league so none of us know what to expect in our first redraft, and I'd rather not risk going into it with one goalie since almost every other team will certainly be keeping two. I'd rather have two good goalies and an abundance of quality forwards going in, then I can build up my D in the draft or via trade later same as I did this season.

    Frozen,

This could come down to which player can fetch you the best return, and by what margin. Both are top-end offensive weapons. Subban is part of a cluster of offensive-minded D in Nashville. Krug has McAvoy about to bust - and some of his stats this year benefited from Cholly being banged up. But, moving forward, I like the Bruins a lot, and how they use their point men on the PP.

If the return for Subban is (8/10) and for Krug it's (6.5 or 7/10), deal PK and keep Krug. Or vice versa. If the deal is a wash, keep the player you enjoy watching, and cheering for, the most. Fantasy hockey should be fun.

    Subban > Krug

However I agree with the strategy of seeking out a trade if it can give you a big boost elsewhere on your roster.

Definitely Subban. In most of my leagues, with hits, PIM, ppp, shp and blocks, the choice is overwhelmingly Subban. In those types of leagues I doubt I?d even consider moving Subban, while Krug I would trade away with no problem.

In your league with only goals and assists it is much closer. However, I?d still pick Subban pretty easily. I would consider trading Krug like suggested above.
