    Default Letang (will REP)

    Hey all;

    Is Letang a safe bet to continue his healthy ways? He always had some random injuries, never really connected / repetitive injuries... My league, like most has a premium on dmen and I'm wondering if I keep Letang next year as I won't get anything for him and easily move say Benn for picks. Or move Letang (if I can for minimal. He doesn't get the redirect as obviously his injury history is s burden; his plus minus should correct next year in my opinion and he should be good for 50+ points again if healthy) and keep Benn.

    It's a points only league with goals counting for more than assists (3 vs 2) and plus minus counts for 1 point each way.

    Both are near 30 and on good teams. Any thoughts? It's the old debate if moving potentially the best player just because he is worth more, vs hanging onto (perhaps) the best player and going into the draft with less to work with. The draft won't be that strong as 7 keepers and 13 GM's but still some good players to be had and always some hidden gems.... Thanks

    He is a gamble, but don't move him for less than he's worth. He's an elite fantasy defenseman who has been held back by injuries. If he can stay healthy maybe you can sell him at a high point next season? I would keep Benn over him if it came down to it.

    I'd rather keep Benn and move Letang for whatever you can get. I don't trust his injury history at all.

    He is a top-end fantasy D man when he is playing... so he is not droppable.

    But Benn is safer option. So I would see what you can get for a return for Letang or Benn... or if you can package both of them for an elite guy!

    He's elite and there are no challenges waiting in the wings to seize the reins - that is, if/when he does miss time due to injury, the #1 job will still be his upon his return.

    This was my first thought as well. Nothing remotely safe about it.

    Benn is a sturdier and safer pick. Both are really good players.

    I'd still be somewhat happy keeping Letang in a points only 7 keeper league so if Benn nets a significantly better return that's probably the way to go.

    C. McDavid, N. Kucherov, R. O'Reilly, J. Schwartz, J. Toews, J. Huberdeau, T. Toffoli, M. Granlund

    And F are alot easier to replace than D through draft, trades or waivers.

    Benn will fetch more no doubt... And I do have options to replace him internally. Granlund, Getzlaf, Pavelski...even Kyle Connor a possibility.

    I've seen this before though, and Getzlaf/Pavelski are old and Granlund is no Benn. Connor could stop progressing.

    Tough call but appreciate all the opinions

    Can you post your roster? I'd like to see your other dmen and forwards. If the rest of your defense sucks, then I could make an argument of going with Letang. If the rest of your forwards suck but you have great dmen, then I could make an argument of going with Benn.

    In a vacuum, I go with Benn since goals are worth more.

    Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

    12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

    Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

    We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

    Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
    Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
    Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

    I have Subban and Klingberg.... So D doesn't suck. But most GMs don't have 1 , let alone 2 D. I still get the sense I wouldn't get much for Letang... Whereas I could trade either Subban or Klingberg for a fortune. Been would fetch a lot too.

    Roster (I loaded up at the deadline and during the year)

    Goals =3, assists=2, +/- is 1 either way. Wins 3,shutouts =5
