2018 Dobber NHL Playoff Draft

I sent a PM to get votes from everyone.

We also had the suggestion of waiting until Sunday after the Boston/Florida game is over so we fully know all matchups... I was really hoping that game would not mean anything to the standings... but I guess it might.

I deal situation would be to start after matchups are set ​AND draft 14 rounds... but I do not think that is reasonable to get the draft done in time!

That being said.....by next weekend we will know more so we could wait to decide. Boston could be 5 points up by then .....

True... And I am good with waiting until next weekend or starting earlier... or running two different drafts... 1 with guys that want to wait for matchups and 1 with guys that want to draft more players and are not as concerned with the matchups.

Hi guys, I realize it's late to introduce twists but how about limiting players to select a max of 2 players per team? Meaning even if I believe Pens will go all the way, I cannot have more than 2 Pens in my roster. This way, we get more players selected from other teams, and also, you are not done even if your fav team is - in other words, the chances of heavier competition in the later rounds is higher.

Any takers or thoughts?

I do like this idea but I think it'll complicate things too much since we will be scrambling to get picks in to begin with. What I mean by that is, if I mistakenly take a 3rd player from the same team without realizing and then I go mia for several hours afterwards, that puts an unnecessary stoppage on the draft. Solid idea but there is too much potential for problems.

I just like playoff drafts for having the discrepancy in strategies with stacking teams or not.

I think it is a great idea if you have only 4 or 5 people drafting! Then have a max of 1 player from each team and a minimum of 1 player from each team... then its got a different strategy...

But i think for this one we will just stick with a straight up draft and anyone can pick anyone from any team... keep it simple!

And also I feel like there aren't any overpowering favourites this year...there is a top tier of 5 or 6 teams, but it wouldnt be a shock if a team out of that group won. Plus the stupid playoff format is going to make it very risky to load up on a team like Winnipeg or Boston, knowing the teams they have to go through just to get out of the 2nd round.

Yes... there are 7 teams I am willing to take a player from in the 1st round depending where I end up in the draft order!

Very true. This will be the hardest playoffs to predict in sometime. Not that it has been easy on any given year but it hasn't been wide open like this in years. I was thinking about this draft today at work and I couldn't think of which player I'd take if I were to have the first overall pick.
