I think if you can make that trade and need to make it, then that is great value. I am not sure if the Laine owner will really want to part with him but it's a solid offer so might as well give it a try.

I do this without much hesitation. The Laine owner might be looking for more however. Then it get's interesting (:

As a Laine owner, it's an instant no from me. Not because Tavares isn't good, but because if it's close I take the wing

I make that trade from your position without a second thought, but as a Laine owner I reject it easily. That is a trade you would have had better luck making earlier in the year. Laine could go as high as a top 5 pick next season. You will likely have to add a sweetener.

I wouldn't trade my Laine for Tavares. Laine will be an elite 50g/85-90pt winger if not a little better, and that's harder to replace than a 75-80pt center. If the other GM takes the trade it would be a big win for you but it's a long shot straight up.

Same old argument from me. His S% is sky high, so is his on ice S%. But it's sky high for a second year in a row, could it be possible he can maintain it? I'm still skeptical, but it's maybe more in line than I'd have thought in the past. I still think that 20% is unrealistic to maintain. Maybe 17.5% is doable on a yearly basis for him though. 29 PPP is high for a season as well. He's on pace for 77 now, if you correct that down, he's on pace for 70. I still think 70 is more of a realistic number for him, with a career year limit of 85, low of 60 ish.

I think Tavares is the better bet for consistent, high end production, and he actually shoots more than Laine does. I think you're going to run into highs, lows and streakyness with Laine.

In a vacuum, I would take Tavares. But positions do matter here, goals tend to be at more of a premium and Laine is much younger, so I wouldn't fault you for picking his side either. I still think he's a bit overrated these days though.

As you expected, the other GM didn't want to trade Laine for Tavares.

    AKnogood,

That is because you are going after Laine at his "hottest" point ever. He was tied for the NHL scoring lead with OV after scoring in 17 odd straight games. He also had scored something like 14 goals in his last ten games. This is the absolute worst time to be going after him.

About 4 weeks ago, before all his "hotness" started, the same manager might have made that same trade. Back then though, you might not have wanted him.
In a 10 league where we start 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D and 2 G daily. It is a H2H league - we keep 3 players (1 G max), are allowed a max of 2 keeps for each player. The number in brackets is the number of keeps I have left:

G, A, +/-, PIMs, PPG, PPA and Shots.
C - Larkin, Couturier, Kopitar, Cirelli
LW - OV, Panarin (1), Schenn (C), Ehlers (RW), Kreider
RW - Kucherov (0), Seguin (C), Palmieri, Voracek, Yamamoto
    D - Yandle, DeAngelo

    W, GAA, SV% and Saves.
G - Rask, Varlamov, Hart, Mrazek
    IR+ - Tarasenko
