Yeah I think he's gotta be the frontrunner now. Avs on course to make the playoffs and that has shocked a lot of people so the voters will take notice. Kucherov and Malkin have the disadvantage of playing with other proven superstars/MVPs, whereas MacKinnon seems to stand out more (though Rantanen would like recognition at some point!).

If the Avs make the play-offs he's a lock for the Hart. If not, it's up in the air then. Hope he wins it. Fulfill my prophecy a couple years ago lol.

I'm not sure he's a lock if the Devils also make the playoffs, but he & Hall really are the two guys who their teams are lost without, it seems.

It seems the only one capable of stopping MacK was Matt Duchene
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

So true. This is the best example of addition by subtraction.

Duchene hasn't been too shabby himself. He has 33 points in his last 33 games.

It's interesting how more stars dont always (dont even usually) mean more success.

I remember when the opposite happened back in 2003 - colorado added Selanne and Kariya, and got worse than the year before

It seems like a good balance is more important than pure talent

I don't think it's really that black and white. Crosby, Malkin, Kessel and Letang seem to be doing just fine on the same team.

There is no doubt in my mind that MacKinnon should get the MVP. Not sure how exactly it will play out with the voting but what is has done for the Avs this year is pretty unbelievable.

Ya, my fantasy team will not be three-peating this year thanks to MacKinnon. I think I hate him now.
