Backstrom and Malkin are close in age right? I know Eichel is young and upcoming but you're getting the 2 best players imo. I'd say yes.
In a keeper league with a salary cap. Categories are G, A, PPP, Hit, Blk.
I would trade Eichel & Backstrom for Malkin & Seguin. Obviously this helps out for the next couple of years but am I mortgaging too much of the future by giving up Eichel? I also would save a little money on the cap.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

You'll save next season, but then Seguin is a UFA, and you'll be spending more money on Malkin and Seguin (5-6 million more) the following season. Then, Backstrom becomes a UFA, and you save money again.
I'm of the belief that you just focus on this season, with an eye to one season in advance. From that perspective, I would do this trade, although it would pain me to lose Eichel. (heart says don't do it, but my head says to do it, sort of thing)
I would keep Eichel, for the long run. Will have opportunity to trade Backstrom. Malkin still bit of a bandaid and Pens will rest him once in, missing fantasy playoff games. Looking to win now and next year, then make trade.

I also feel that looking beyond two years in fantasy hockey can be counter productive. Too much can change, and often does. I like this deal for you and I think it makes you better for the next two years. Beyond that, well you deal with that when the time comes. I've mentioned this before on the forum, but poolies would be wise to take notice of Eichel's injury track record. Malkin, rightly, is labelled a band aid boy, but Eichel is not about to win an Iron Man award any time soon if his first three years in the league are any indication. Also of concern is that Eichel is missing time with the same injury, high ankle sprains. Accordingly, for me, this is a bit of a red flag and if I am an Eichel owner it makes moving him for the right price an easier decision. So nothing is carved in stone and we simply don't know what the future will hold, but there are indications here that expecting 82 games out of Eichel every season may be misplaced faith.

This definitely is a blockbuster of a deal!! Even though Eichel is so young I am more inclined to favor the Malkin/Seguin side of this trade.. Eichel seems like he is on his own island in Buffalo and I don't exactly like that.. Malkin has Crosby and Seguin has Benn..
Eichel has...............ummmmmm..........Pominville?
Cash might be a bit of a different animal though once Seguin re-ups with Dallas for 8 years..
Just my opinion, I would go with Malkin and Seguin..

Eichel is young and you are worried about youth, but Seguin is only 26. He has years of productivity (and more durable). Don't look so far ahead.
