    Default who to keep?

    I can keep 6 F, 4 D, 1 UTIL (F/D), 1 G

G A SOG PPA PPG PIM HIT BLK

My league uses cap (cap hit, nhl max) so it's making my decisions harder.

    Bolded my thoughts below:

    Forwards:
    Pavelski (6.0)
    Barkov (5.9)
    Hall (6.0)
    Schenn (5.13)
    Duchene (6.0)
    Johansen (8.0)
    Kessel (8.0)
    Fiala (1.36)
    Perlini (1.36)
    Nick Ritchie (RFA)
    Evander Kane (UFA)

    Defense:
    Weber (7.85)
    Kling (4.25)
    Ghost (4.5)
    Nurse (RFA)
Zadorov (2.25) (may keep if Nurse signs for $$$)
    Manson (4.1)

    Goalie:
    Dubnyk (4.33)
    Smith (5.67)

Kessel is hard because of the cap. Kane might get signed for $$$ as well but is great for my league with periphs.

    Any thoughts?

I think you have it right. I very much dislike Kane but he's putting up pims and shots. I think Duchene will have a good season next year but may not be worth the risk at 6m currently.

Check out Kane in non-contract years. I'd be nervous keeping him. For me, it depends on his contract.

I'd also taking a closer look at Duchene and Pavelski. Duchene was TERRIBLE in Ottawa for quite awhile, but he's been very good for the last month or so. [Would like to see if Duchene re-signs on July 1st, and if so - for how much).

Feels a bit early to make these decisions, tbh. If you don't need to submit a list until after July 1st, I'd just hold off until then...

Duchene is under contract for another year, I think. He's likely okay at that price point, but unsure how he stacks up in multi-cat.

I would be very, very worried about what Kane's contract will be. He's shown a propensity to play in contract years, and I think that his performance in San Jose has increased his earning power in his next contract. Since you can cut guys on bad contracts, at least there's no long term downside risk of eating an awful deal.

If Zadorov outperforms his contract by a solid margin, he may be worth keeping in any event.

IMO Kessel at 8 is better than Duchene at 6. But Duchene has been killing it the last 2 months.

I'm also worried about Kane getting lazy after getting paid. I'm hoping for a short term prove it deal.

In your format I think you have this right. Without knowing what Nurse and Kane will sign for it makes it a lot tougher but having a plan B is a good idea. Zadorov is a nice option for Nurse and if you want to save some cap and take a bit of a chance, Richie might be an excellent bargain replacement for Kane in your format, the peripherals are huge and another 10+ pts of offence (ya the breakout we are waiting for) could make this a real savvy move. Risky, but it's a very solid option IMO. Duchene is the other choice but his cap hit is high and he is not at all a great multi cat producer.

I'd keep Kane if he was on a reasonable contract, but he is going to want to get paid, and the more money he makes, the less attractive he is as a keeper.

I like the picks you've made in the original post.
