Default Trade Name Value or Fantasy Value?

When looking at trades in a specific league, how much value do you put on names vs fantasy point production?

I'm in a new league (not in sig) and no trades have been completed yet, so there is no track record.

Getting an offer of his Stamkos and Ferland for my Ristolainen and 1st round pick in this years entry draft (2nd overall pick.)

Risto and Stamkos are very close in fantasy production in this league. Defensemen receive a small points bonus and a TOI bonus. The other pieces are noise, although Ferland does have some value because it's a 16 team league with 22 man rosters. The pick doesn't have a lot of value because there is no way to protect prospects in this league. I'll have to drop someone to roster the pick and he'll have to be good enough to be one of my 15 keepers at the start of 2019-20.

The only thing stopping me from rejecting is Stammer's name value, but as I say, that is an unknown in this league. Am I missing something?

Buy on fantasy value and sell on name value.

From the looks of the trade its basically your Risto + 1st for Stamkos. Without knowing the scoring it seems like it's an easy accept. I can see how a rising Risto would have solid value in a league with some types of scoring PIMs/HITs/Blocks.

If you give us the league details we can more properly asses the trade.

More info. My team is young. Weber and Hall are my oldest players. A couple of other teams were happy to draft older players and consequently get more fantasy production in the short term. I could see making the deal if Stamkos helps me win sooner, but I don't see me competing next year.

Did you say that Stamkos and Ristolainen are close based on Fantasy Point production?

If that is indeed the case, then defensemen must have MASSIVE value in your league. Ristos stats aren't all that good, yet he's keeping up with Stamkos, who is having an excellent offensive year?

I don't think many of us have a good handle on your league if the above is true, so based on the actual production, I don't think I would make this trade. Top line defensemen seem to be of premiere value in this league.

Can you list the top 10 scorers in your format? I'm curious if they're all defensemen.

    Top scorers
    Malkin
    MacKinnon
    Bergeron
    Crosby
    Trocheck
    Barkov
    Burns
    Seguin
    Kopitar
    McDavid

Stamkos is 19th among skaters at 4.8 fp/gm
    Risto is 32nd at 4.5 fp/gm
Not a big enough gap to account for the difference in age is my reckoning.

Wow, that's a wild scoring format! However, I think this really boils down to offensive stats. The peripherals are not as prevalent as those scoring stats. Accordingly, the Stamkos side here is the way to go IMO.

"Buy on fantasy value and sell on name value." This is bang on!

If they are that close in fppg in your league while Stamkos is having a great year and Risto a not so great year, then I keep Risto because of the age difference and positive regression factor.
