I feel roughly as positive about Demko being a stud in a couple years as I did about Vasilevskiy a couple of years ago. We'll see if I get a reality check on that or not.

Honestly there is no other goalie prospect I've felt as good about before as these two. But I've only been playing fantasy hockey for a few years.

I didn't say 100% of them wont make it.

If the Demko dart strikes bullseye too, I just might start buying lotto tickets!

I am sure many are still waiting on Jack Campbell, Mark Visentin, Chet Pickard, Riku Helenius, and Leland Irving to pan out as well. And those are just the 1st round selections by NHL teams since 2006 who I am sure were drafted by many in fantasy drafts early on who never really made an impact.

Point is, goalie prospects are finicky and hard to gauge. We are just seeing the fruits of Jakob Markstrom pay off, and he was previous known as the best goalie prospect on the planet.

It's funny, I googled Jacob Markstrom best goalie prospect and found a link off the HF Boards from 2011 and they have a thread on who they thought was the best goalie prospects at that time. Most of the lists have some sort of grouping like:

    1. Jacob Markstrom
    2. Jack Campbell
    3. Robin Lehner
    4. Braden Holtby
    5. Andres Lindback
    6. Calvin Pickard
    7. Alex Stalock
    8. Dustin Tokarski
    9. Jack Allen
    10. Richard Bachman

    HM
    Mike Murphy
    Alex Salak
    Joni Ortio

Holtby was obviously a hit, but to be fair Holtby had already made his NHL debut in 2010 so while he was still a prospect, he was already establishing himself. JACK Allen (LOL!) has made his mark as well and as I mentioned, we are just seeing Markstrom make his mark now. Lehner has turned into a legit NHL starter as well.

A few other lists had Kevin Poulin, Matt Hackett and even Ben Scrivens.
It is fun to go back and read peoples thoughts on some of these kids.

There is not enough love for Ville Husso out there. He's 7th in the AHL in GAA, 5th in SV% while playing on a team that is in 6th place in their division and 21st in the league. His GAA and his SV% are both better than Thatcher Demko while playing on a worse hockey team. He just turned 23 years old (he's 10 months older than Demko) and is only his 2nd season in North America. He's got the size, skill and athleticism to become a star. He's also a member of the St Louis Blues and neither Jake Allen nor Carter Hutton appear to be a long term solution. The Blues are also a very good hockey team.

Ville Husso is my pick to become the next star goaltender of the NHL.

Good luck finding the next Vasilevskiy. Im sure he's out there but being confident on who it will be is picking the lotto numbers.

Anyone here won Lotto 6/49 lately?

    And Pogge over Rask.
    Markstrom vs Bernier
Pavalec becoming fantasy relevant a couple years back... Thanks again for that tip Dobber

I too am a Husso fan. He's pretty undervalued in fantasy circles IMO.

I also like Gustavsson and Demko.

For some reason I'm not that high on Hart. I think it's because "good goalie" and "flyers" don't really mix in my brain.

Axe's post sums it up though. It's a crapshoot more often than not!

Husso should backup Allen next season, real good chance he becomes the starter for the blues by Xmas, as you also mentioned, blues are a good team with tons of depth, my bet for next Vasil is Husso.
