    Default Jones or McAvoy?

Which dman do you like better long term? 1-3 years? 3-5 years? And what's your reasoning. Seth Jones or Charlie McAvoy

    Seth Jones

At the rip old age of 23 he has established himself as one of the most reliable D men in the game and is skating big minutes both 5 on 5 and on the PP. He more than adequately fills the peripheral stats of hits and blocks and his SOG is wicked. I don't see this changing, in fact I can see him getting better. I believe he has higher upside that McAvoy, 60 vs 55 and is also more likely to hit it. McAvoy is an excellent young D but at the age of 20 he has some development still ahead of him, in other words he is less mature than Jones is now, which makes sense he is 3 years behind on the development curve. In 5 years Jones is 28, still in his prime. McAvoy is a hell of a young prospect and is, and will be an excellent own for any fantasy GM, but IMO Jones is a step ahead and a notch above. Not a huge difference, but a difference nonetheless.

Bubba sums it up well enough. I prefer Jones as well.

Pretty close but my personal preference is still McAvoy. Jones will have to compete with Werenski for years where as McAvoy has guys like Krug nipping at his heels but not enough to slow him down. For me, I like the upside in McAvoy more and am willing to be patient for him to develop into a beast.

Bubba said it. Jones has it all and more importantly shown that he has arrived. McAvoy is good but still years behind Jones and yet to prove his potential.

Jones for me as well. As teams get better guys will always have competition but the cream rises to the top.

McAvoy would be my pick. He's the #1 defenseman for one of the 5 best teams in the NHL and he turned 20 a few months ago. He is still learning the NHL game and will likely continue to get better.

I would choose McAvoy because Jones has Werenski.. Both McAvoy/Jones are as solid as they come, but I like McAvoy for the remainder of their careers!!

I don't understand this train of thought because Krug is better than Werenski.... Unless you mean because Krug is 26 years old? Thus, perhaps Krug has only about 3-5 really solid years left? That said, I never think beyond 3 or 4 years in fantasy or you will always be chasing the shiny new toy and not winning much IMO.

Hey WONKO, just my opinion.. Krug is older yes but Werenski is more of a complete dman then Krug is.. I would want Werenski over Krug hands down.. Jones has more competition with Werenski then McAvoy will have with Krug!! But again, just my opinion!!

I am not sure why the use of CAPS and so many !!!. I was just offering a different viewpoint. One that it appears many others agree with. No need to get snarky.

I believe Krug is the much better offfensive D man (likely defensive too but hard to quantify) but I will allow you your opinion without resorting to SHOUTING and EXCLAIMING!!!!!

Hello my friend wonko, I wasn't at all being snarky, that's just not how I roll.. You said you "don't understand this train of thought".. So I was trying to explain my "train of thought".. McAvoy and Jones have very bright careers ahead, we don't really know who will be the better option in the long run, we are merely guessing at his point..
