    Bell is a great running back, but what he wants is absurd. All football players want to be paid like NBA players, meanwhile they play significantly less and only on 1 dimension of the game.

    And it's about the percentage they make vs the cap is what I'm talking about. Not the actual dollar figure.

    RB's need to be greedy because of their extremely short shelf life.. Pittsburgh over uses L.Bell.. I see L.Bell holding out or demanding a trade..

    I would love to see a full analysis between NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB based on salary caps and pay.

    Bell should be the highest paid RB, and OBJ should be up there as well for WR, however to command the amount they want, with the roster size, and how many plays they are in (Bell is different tho, he's in a lot more blocking, running routes, and running the ball) is a lot vs other sports.

    Somehow the Steelers will come out of this and still be ok. Somehow they always do.

    Top 3 besides Bell in salary:
    McCoy - 8.5mill
    Zeke - 6.8mill
    Miller - 6.75mill

    With the 2nd yr tag Bell makes:
    14.544mill guaranteed. He wants almost double what the highest paid RB besides him makes.

    He wants more than all but 3 LB make who are the QB of the defence right? All but 3.... He wants to make a CRAP ton.

    Man oh man.. Now that is crazy.. I can see where the Steelers are coming from now.. L.Bell is trying to make a statement here and up the cash for RB's for the future!!

    No way he gets that much, especially not guaranteed..

    No doubt Bell deserves to be the top paid RB at this point. What makes putting a dollar figure on it so tough is that he's also used a WR in the Steelers offense. That's the reason and justification for Bell's asking price. Without a deal, he'll sit out training camp. The media coverage and hot takes of him being a "me first" guy will be nauseating.

    Totally agree with TheWhale!! The Steelers best chance of winning is when L.Bell is in the lineup.. They need to figure this out before it causes a rift through that team.. Big Ben won't be around forever either!! He actually deserves to be paid like a WR!!

    He won't win that argument because Jimmy Graham said he was a WR and should get franchise tag WR dollar, not franchise tag TE money and lost.

    Bell is a running back, if McCoy gets 8.5mill, Bell should be 10mill.

    Lets do a bit of random math
    If a rush play is lets say 1.5pts, receiving targets is 1pt, Plays involved in not targeted/rushed is 0.25pts:
    Rushes Receiving Plays Not Receiving/Rushing Total
    Multiplier 1.5 1 0.25
    McCoy 287 77 136
    McCoy Total 430.5 77 34 541.5
    Bell 321 106 173
    Bell Total 481.5 106 43.25 630.75

    McCoy=541.5pts
    Bell=630.75pts

    McCoy=541.5pts/8.5mill = 63.7pts/mill
    Bell=630.75pts/x = 63.7pts/mill
    x=9.90097mill

    Bell should make roughly 10mill/yr if McCoy makes that much and Bell plays that much more. I was just pulling the "plays involved but not targeted/rushed" out of my butt, but it's a reasonable guess I think.

    The big number people seem to overlook when talking about Bell, is the amount of catches he puts up. 85 Receptions put him 10th in the league last year and that included all WRs... The Steelers either need to pay him close to what he's asking or bring in 2-3 players to replace his production.
