1) Probably not a starter but I can see him as a viable backup in a couple years.
2) he got waived because he showed he wasn't ready
3) If he reaches his upside, it wont be for a couple more seasons at best.
24 year old. Showed promise in AHL last year. Had some bad NHL games this year, got waived. RFA at the end of this year. Talbot signed for another year.
1) What are your thoughts on his prognosis? NHL Starter? NHL Backup? Career AHLer?
2) Why do you think that he got waived
3) How soon until he reaches his upside.

Axeman- do you think the Oilers expected him to clear Waivers and did it as a wakeup call? Or did they just not want to bother with him at all and that's why they got another goalie? If the latter- it's an awfully short leash. Saros who has been great overall this year had a rough start but Nashville persisted.

They got another goalie because they realized that Brossoit wasn't good enough for the NHL and would benefit from playing in the AHL. He wasn't going to get claimed on waivers. Better options had already cleared so I am pretty sure they were confident he would clear as well.

1) Laurent Brossoit's upside is an average back up goalie.
2) He got waived because he's not an NHL goalie.
3) Never as I don't think he's good enough to stick as an NHL back up.
Very good Junior goalie......and that's it. Just another example of the Oilers brass over-valuing Oil Kings products. Avg NHL backup is his ceiling IMO, thus making him irrelevant for both fantasy and real life purposes.
1. Backup, perhaps tandem starter.
2. Waived due to not being ready for NHL, and situation makes him required to clear waivers.
3. 2 years from reaching backup status.
Note:
Saros had elite rate stats for Nashville last year. He also didn't require waivers to be sent to the AHL. If he had required waivers, pretty much all non-stupid teams would've claimed him.
