I really doubt anything becomes of this but Washington is the newest rumour this morning.League sources say Washington is making a push for Erik Karlsson. They would have to move UFA D John Carlson elsewhere to get something done. VGK, TB, SJ also in the mix. Vegas would take Bobby Ryan. Tampa Bay can?t take Ryan.

it was more of a skeleton trade, but if they take on Ryan, they might be able to not give up anything to take Carlson. Or give up very minimal to Ottawa.

The universe where B.Ryan's contract is a total anchor to an owner who in theory can't even resign his best player he's ever had on his NHL team. It was just the skeleton of an example where the Caps would get Karlsson too.
Like when someone says "picks/prospects" i thought it was pretty obvious it was a skeleton offer.
