Agreed, but his production suffered when he was bumped to PP2. He was pretty much a staple on PP2 two seasons ago because Stralman, at the time, was PP1 to better compliment the left / right handed shooting combination with Stamkos. Hedman became a better all around defenseman that year, but his offensive #'s suffered (failed to break 50 pts), relative to what he's capable of. When Stamkos was out last year and Hedman took over on PP1 again, we saw the 70+ pts season he can put up. This year, he's on pace to clear 60 pts again, but that's because he's been a staple on PP1. I think the addition of EK would hurt Hedman's fantasy value.

Or Subban in Preds. He took some time in his first yr to adjust.

2018-19 season tho, I think it would be insane.
This is a great point. It's actually what's got me the most surprised to hear the rumors that Yzerman is pushing so hard for this. I feel like there's a chance it could be more disruptive to the team this year. They've been doing so well without someone like EK, that to bring someone of that magnitude in this late in the season, it could end up hurting the cause more than helping.

Agree but players of EK caliber don't often become available and maybe it's partly- if we get him, no-one else can.

    3 pages (my settings, anyway)?

If Erik Karlsson gets traded by the deadline I'll eat my hat.

That's as diplomatically as I can put it. Please stop.

Las Vegas jumped into the sweepstakes. The only team that could take Bobby Ryan and Karlsson's contract. Interesting dark horse

Hearing San Jose has the cap space and interest. Dougie Wilson likes to make a big splash so don't count them out.

I guess SJS would need to get creative with LTIR's, or Ottawa retaining. But it's not like SJS has a whole lot of stuff that could go the other way. But yes, it could be done.

But Vegas can get both EK and Ryan without Ottawa retaining if like Garrison (buried in AHL) and like Grabo go the other way, or Clarkson who's LTIR eligible and would have insurance paying his contract.

Vegas has the best odds in my mind. Cap space to afford Karlsson re-signed at max contract + take on Ryan, and they wouldn't have to see Karlsson as much vs if they traded him to Tampa. Not to mention the best package of futures to offer.

Brannstrom, Glass, Suzuki, 1st round picks...Tuch, Theodore etc

For the sake of hockey, I want him out of Ottawa. I would love to see him end up in Tampa. Would that get NBC to put a few of their games on?
