Default Time to be panic over M. Smith?

Still hasn't practiced with the team, and his skating appears limited at best. Team is obviously not divulging much info, but they didn't add him to IR which is a bit odd, and they say it's not serious. But, we're looking at a week to week thing, not day to day right?

Do you think Smith returns by 3/12? I can survive without him until my first round in the playoffs (technically second round but I should have a bye).

If Calgary didn't think he would be back by 3/12, they would be taking advantage of IR right now I think... what is the benefit of not doing so?

That's my thinking. Fingers crossed, barring any setbacks.

I traded him away last week to get Bob because of the uncertainty. I am very much in the running for my league and needed to do something before the trade deadline.
In a 10 league where we start 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D and 2 G daily. It is a H2H league - we keep 3 players (1 G max), are allowed a max of 2 keeps for each player. The number in brackets is the number of keeps I have left:

G, A, +/-, PIMs, PPG, PPA and Shots.
C - Larkin, Couturier, Kopitar, Cirelli
LW - OV, Panarin (1), Schenn (C), Ehlers (RW), Kreider
RW - Kucherov (0), Seguin (C), Palmieri, Voracek, Yamamoto
    D - Yandle, DeAngelo

    W, GAA, SV% and Saves.
G - Rask, Varlamov, Hart, Mrazek
    IR+ - Tarasenko

Is it worth risking the whole season on it? Just because the MRI is clean doesn't mean the groin muscle is good.

I have to at this point. I traded for Smith about a month ago, to be my backup behind Freddie. Calgary's schedule compliments Toronto's very well in March. I have one last matchup next week and then a first round bye before my 3/12 matchup. At this point, all I can do is wait and hope that will be long enough. If I was in a much tighter race I would've need to something before my league's deadline last night.

Yeah I understand. I am glad I didn't wait and I jumped on the move. Goalies and groins don't go well together when the groin is injured.

Bob is about 10th goalie in our league, Mike Smith was about the 11th. It was a very lateral trade except that I had to upgrade the other manager's picks for next year's draft to get it done.

Be thankful you have Andersen to keep your team afloat. Are you rolling with just Freddie right now or did you pick up a temporary replacement for Smith via free agency?

Smith is now on IR. Not sure if his timeline changes with this news, but it certainly doesn't help.

I don't think this changes anything. Likely a retroactive move for the cap/roster space.

This, but I still feel he is more than a couple of days away. The only thing Smith has going for him is that Calgary is in the WC hunt and dropping even one game could ruin their season. I think they will do what they can to get him back sooner than later.
