Or are you saying that because you think keeping a goalie in a 10 team H2H league with 3 keepers makes no sense?
Our league places a large premium on goalies.
Of the 30 players kept last year, 8 were goalies:
Mike Smith
Jonathan Quick
Tuukka Rask
Carey Price
Pekka Rinne
Sergei Bobrovsky
Cam Talbot
Matt Murray
8 more were taken in the next 3 rounds. So of the first 60 players 16 were goalies and were pretty much the good-great goalies and some of the not so good ones too. Goalies are so valuable in our league that we set a limit of 1 goalie keeper per year. The 2 teams that didn't keep a goalie last year did not make the playoffs this year.
4/11 cats are for goalies. We start 2 a day. Most teams have 3-5 goalies in their 17 player roster. Good goalies are hard to find - great goalies are near impossible. One of the big reasons I came first in the regular season this year is because of Vasilevsky. The fact that I drafted him this year and can keep him for 2 years (versus one for Laine and Stamkos) is a huge bonus.
The first pick this year (after the 3 rounds of keepers) was Holtby. I was second pick and I wanted him, but took Kucherov instead. If I were to drop Vasilevsky, pretty sure he would go very high in the draft next year - maybe even number 1. Between him and Laine, if I were to draft 8th - 10th next year, I think I would be more like to get Laine than Vasilevsky. With that said, if I were to drop both, then I expect they would both be gone by the time drafting got to me at the bottom.
Both because I expect some regression from Vasilevsky and because goalies should be more plentiful in a 10-team league.
Looking at the list of goalies kept:
Mike Smith - good but not great season
Jonathan Quick - good season
Tuukka Rask- great season
Carey Price- terrible season after being a top 3 goalie keeper projection
Pekka Rinne - great season after bad season
Sergei Bobrovsky - good season
Cam Talbot - terrible after being a top 3 goalie keeper projection
Matt Murray - terrible after being a top 5-8 goalie keeper projection
That being said you know your league better than us and seem dead set on keeping Vasilevsky. Stamkos and Laine are very close. I would probably keep Laine over Stamkos by the slimmest of margins because he is still rising and Stamkos has had a few injuries here and there.
