Default Flyers offered Mrazek for a 3rd - they declined

As per Helene St James, who covers the Wings, apparently the Flyers turned down Detroit's offer to send then Mrazek. Click the link for more info on the Wings as they head into the trade deadline but I found that nugget interesting. Once again shows that teams arent interested in Mrazek at this point of the season.

There is also interest in goaltender Jimmy Howard. Petr Mrazek is not drawing interest ? he was offered to Philadelphia after the Flyers lost Brian Elliott last week (he?s out five-to-six weeks) for an asking price of a third-round pick and the Flyers declined.

as a die hard Flyers fan I would not accept that deal. Reason being they have great organizational depth in net (Anthony Stolaraz Carter Hart) and giving up a 3rd round pick in a deep draft year like this doesn't make sense IMO. Neuvrth and Mrazek have played the same role all year being a steady back up for two mid class starters exiting there prime in Howard and Elliot and Neuvirth has played leaps and bound better then mrazek (stats dont lie)

As a Flyers fan, I'd be all over that. Mrazek has shown that he can shoulder the load in the past, and he's young enough to help now, and be a decent or better starter if he plays well enough and fits in.

Teams like the Flyers and Isles should really take a chance on Mrazek

First post! Welcome to the forums!

As a Flyers fan, you should be nervous with Elliott and Neuvirth going into the playoffs. Neither are proven playoff performers. That being said, neither is Mrazek.

this would lead me to speculate flyers are interested in lehner instead.

That or they dont plan on adding a goalie at all and taking their chances.

The Flyers can always trade for a goalie after the trade dealine when remaining goalies prices will be about as low as can be. That goalie could play in the regular season until Elliott returns but not the playoffs.

Crazy.....a 3rd round pick!! Mrazek has actually been pretty good lately I'm surprised they're not making that deal.

Why not do it for a 3rd round pick?

Mrazek has been decent lately and I would say he can be better than what they have right now (he may not be but he certainly can be better).

My best guess; they are afraid of what to do once Elliott comes back. They arent going to carry 3G, and I dont see them waiving Neuvirth or Elliott and dont want to pay Mrazek to play in the AHL, or worse, lose him on waivers for nothing.

Now that Neuvirth is also hurt, this should be something Hextall simply agrees to do. Missing the playoffs due to not wanting to pay a 3rd pick, which is unlikely to amount to much, is not a good thing.
