Default Looking for feedback on 2 trades I was offered.. MAF/Murray and Monahan/Stamkos

So I have been offered to separate offers in the same league and would like some feedback.

    First the particulars:
    YAHOO 14 Team Keeper (5) League - H2H Categories
    Roster Positions: C, C, LW, RW, F, F, D, D, D, Util, G, G, BN, BN, BN, BN, IR+, IR+
Forwards/Defensemen Stat Categories: Goals (G), Assists (A), Points (P), Plus/Minus (+/-), Penalty Minutes (PIM), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shorthanded Points (SHP), Game-Winning Goals (GWG), Faceoffs Won (FW)
Goaltenders Stat Categories: Wins (W), Losses (L), Goals Against Average (GAA), Saves (SV), Save Percentage (SV%), Shutouts (SHO)

    My Team:

    C Sean Monahan Cgy - C
    C Antoine Vermette Anh - C
LW Rick Nash NYR - LW,RW
RW Bryan Rust Pit - LW,RW
    F Jonathan Marchessault VGK - C,LW
    F Clayton Keller Ari - C,LW,RW
    D Erik Karlsson Ott - D
    D Torey Krug Bos - D
    D (Empty)
Util Tyler Bozak Tor - C
    G Marc-Andre Fleury VGK - G
    G Malcolm Subban VGK - G (IR)
BN Zach Hyman Tor - C,LW
BN Tyler Johnson TB - C,RW
BN Milan Lucic Edm - LW
BN Brayden Point TB - C,RW
    IR+ Phillip Danault Mon - C,LW
BN Anton Forsberg Chi - G
    IR+ Corey Crawford Chi - G

As a side note of importance, I currently sit in 9th. I inherited a pretty slim team and throughout the year I am trying to rebuild for next year. Also our league allows for the trading of Draft Picks.

    Offer #1

    I receive: Murray (G) / Sergachev (D) / 8th pick
    I give up: MAF (G) / 11th pick

    My thoughts??
MAF has surprisingly done very well in Vegas. You would not believe how many offers I have received for him. Murray is a SC Champion starting goalie. MAF has slightly better numbers than Murray. The question to be asked is MAF going to continue to excel in Vegas and do the Pens keep up their winning ways. After all Crosby and Malkin will be starting their downhill side of their careers. Don't get me wrong, Crosby is Crosby but do the Pens keep it up or are they going to start to struggle to in the upcoming years?

Sergachev is an interesting player. I agree he will be a star. Right now I have Karlsson. I was given some advice that there are very few D-men worth keeping with the way our is set-up. I traded Subban, I have Karlsson. I would throw Burns in that mix and maybe Klingberg. Sergachev is not there yet
The draft picks are make it very enticing.

    So the question(s) is/are:

    1) Is MAF/Crawford a better combo for than that of Murray/Crawford .. OR ...do I offer Crawford and keep MAF / Murray???
    2) Sergachev is sort of throw in player as I would not be keeping a the end of the season

    Right now my Keepers are:
    ? Monahan
    ? Karlsson
    ? Marchausselt
    ? Crawford
    ? MAF or (Murray)
OR ...do I offer Crawford and keep MAF / Murray???

Offer #2 I was just hit with this morning.

    I receive: Stamkos (C) / Giordano (D) / 8th Pick
    I give up: Monahan (C) / Karlsson (D) 11th pick

    My thoughts: ??

I have had numerous offers for Monahan all year also. I have not budged. Stamkos brings this who trade offer to a new level. Monahan for Stamkos is a no-brainer. HOWEVER, I really do not want to give up Karlsson and the other GM has made it clear, I say no to Karlsson, then Stamkos is out of play.

What am I missing here that leads me to believe the other GM wants to give up Stamkos? (This GM is currently in 1st place) Granted Stamkos is older than Monahan by 5 years. Just eye balling it, but both Stamkos and Monahan have SH% similar to their CSH%

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

    I thank you in advance

If your playing for future I do deal 1. They're is absolutely zero chance I do deal #2 and honestly it would have been an instant reject and borderline offensive in my opinion

I like deal #1 - Fleury & Murray are similar talent level goalies, and you get the younger one, a pick upgrade and a nice looking young blueliner.

I wouldn't do deal #2. He wants Karlsson & Monahan to get younger up front and better on the blueline. That's why, and it's too much.

Sure, I would go ahead with deal #1.

I would be shopping Monahan as hard as possible. His S% and on ice S% are high and when corrected for, he's on a 62 point pace. He's a 60 point player.

I would be keeping Keller ahead of Monahan as well anyways, so I wouldn't consider Monahan a keeper.

Your setup does seem to slightly favour F compared to D. Really, Stamkos and Karlsson should be pretty even, so I don't like having to include Monahan in the deal, it should be more of a straight swap, which I don't mind. Similar age, Stamkos comes with a higher ceiling but more injury risk in my opinion.

Monhan you should be trading separately either for a high pick (think 1st), or packaged for a keeper upgrade (not with Karlsson though).

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the insight. Even though I have been doing Fantasy Hockey now for 5 years, it is always good to get a different perspective through fresh eyes.

So Karlsson is off the table....

    Newest proposal is

    Monahan / T. Johnson / 11th (6th Rd)

    for

    Stamkos / Dadonov / 7th (2nd Rd)

Basically it is Stamkos 1 for 1 with Monahan. IMO, T. Johnson is better than Dadonov but the draft picks make up for that.

Get that deal done. Monahan to Stamkos as a keeper is amazing. And a pick upgrade, amazing deal for you given that you're out of it.

I'd do the revised deal for sure. Hope you got the goalie swap done.

    Newest offer is

    Monahan / B. Point / 7th (2nd)

    for

    Stamkos / Dadonov / 9th (4th)

Point is not a keeper for me . (we only keep 5 .... I would have Stamkos / Karlsson / Murray / Crawford / Marchausselt (?)

Would have preferred the pick upgrade, by I have two extra 2nd rounders to spare.

Anyone have problems with this deal?

I'm going to finalize MAF for Murray later tonight.

A potential alternative has just been presented ....

    Stamkos / Giordano / Dadonov

    for

    Monahan / B. Point / Krug

Sooooo ... which offer is better? Again I'm in 9th place, probably not going to make playoffs. Neither Point or Krug are keepers for me.

All this extra stuff means nothing them. It's just distraction. I don't know how u were offering tyler johnson and 9th for 7th then all of the sudden your offering point (better player) and better pick? Sounds like these offers are regressing the further u get into it. It's becoming too convoluted and your getting distracted. Hey stamkos and the better pick and be done with it. Everything else is white noise

because I get this message ....

if Karlsson is out I would want Monahan and Point for Stamkos and Dadonov and I would want the pick upgrade going my direction, I would want a second for fourth. Like I said, if Karlsson is out of the equation that is certainly understandable and we could still work something out but I believe Stamkos is one of the top five fantasy skaters in the game and is deserving of fair compensation.

essentially he changed his mind in what I offered .... The thing is we are only a 5 player keeper and Point would not make his keeper list. Essentially he upped the anti. He sent me two offers. one with picks and one with out.....

Well it does not matter any more... He took down the offer and traded Stamkos to another GM. Stamkos / Hoffman for A. Lee / T. Seguin
