If it's a groin tear or even a strain, you've got to think that at nearly 36 he'll need considerably more rehab time. At this point in the game, this could put him out most of the rest of the regular season.

I'm sure they are going to trade for a goalie if he's out for a while. They do'nt have the G to bring them in the playoffs in their depth chart.

Eric Francis: Watched Mike Smith walk out of the dressing room without a limp, which is good news. Really bad groin pulls can make it hard to walk, which didn't appear to be an issue

Maybe with a bit of luck it was just dehydration and severe cramping at the end of the game?

Gillies may have the higher ceiling but he's not ready for the NHL yet. I would feel comfortable with Rittich starting but the Flames will have to trade for some G depth if Smith is going to be out a while.

Omg- hope its just a cramp or something- traded a pretty decent package for him and hes been absolute money in the bank as my third goalie. Even though the price was fairly high- its been basically my favorite trade. You generally cant get a top 5-10 goalie for that little...
