I know it might be a little early but will Cale makar play for Colorado next year season 2018/2019
If not, i'm trying to find next year Rookie of the year i have 2 spares for Rookies.
I got Elias Peterson and was looking for a Def or maybe n other forward ave any sugestions?

I think its less than 50% likelihood that we see Makar play a full NHL season next year.

It's not completely out of the question, but I think the odds are slim he plays in the NHL next year.
It's hard to recommend anyone else without knowing who's available. Is Thomas Chabot available?

More likely to play than Mittlestad, but still not very likely IMO.

He'll most likely need to spend another season playing college hockey or in the AHL before he's ready for full-time job in the NHL. It's unlikely Colorado would want to use him as power play specialist because they probably want to develop him into a top pair defenseman.
Other suggestions for next season: Eeli Tolvanen and Henrik Borgstrom

Girard has already taken that role anyway, at 19 he has already supplanted Barry for PP1 quarterback. I think Cale Makar was initially drafted to be this guy but the Avs may take him a different way and try to make him a more complete D man now that the role has been filled.

I cannot see him playing next year... I think he will need a couple more years of seasoning.
And if he does play I cannot see him winning rookie of the year... when was the last time a d-man won it...Werenski was a 47 point d man as a rookie and still didn't win it... there is always going to be a forward that outscores and gets more recognition.

Girard isn't carved in stone. The spot could be Barrie's in a week again. Girard isn't a Weber, Burns, Karlsson, Letang Dman... he can be replaced any given night on that pp1. Girard owners should expect that to happen.Originally Posted by ShawneePanthers

Not sure why he couldn't make it if he has a great camp. He is not lighting it up in the NCAA statistically, but he is not too shabby either. His coach says he is easily the best player on the ice. He looked incredible at the WJC's. He is the only player under 20 the Canadian Olympic brass felt could help them at the Olympics, which is saying a lot. Makar definitely has the skills to be elite, so unless Colorado feels he really still needs to work on the defensive side of things I think he has a better than 50/50 chance of sticking with the Avalanche right from start of the 2018/2019 season. Why not let him learn on the fly? Best way to learn IMO unless he is really not ready, which I don't see. He is the future along with Timmins on the backend.
Colorado is going to be a powerhouse very soon.
