Default H2H Goalie Categories - Total Saves vs. SV%

So my 12-team H2H league currently has 11 categories with 8 of them being offensive stats. We wanted to add an extra goalie category to increase the value and importance of them for next year.
League voted to add GAA and to replace SV% with Total Saves made (Wins, Shutouts, GAA, and Saves). Does anyone have experience with Total Saves? Good/Bad idea?
Worth using in place of Save %?

    Are we all idiots? haha

We were just trying to spice things up going into our 11th year with this league.

Having Shutouts as it's own category is the bigger issue for me. If you can combine them with wins, adding a bonus for shutouts, that's what I'd do. If not, just do away with them.

Total Saves and Save Percentage are great categories. Personally, my favorite option for having 4 goalie cats is Wins (or, if on Fantrax, GPTS10), Saves, Save %, and GAA.

First off... what is GPTS 10?

AS for the question above... I like having Saves or Save Percentage... it allows for good goalies on bad teams to still be fantasy relevant.

Yep I hate Shutouts too and need to get them out of my keeper.

GPTS is essentially Wins + (shutouts X 2).

    So, wins = 1 point, shutouts = 3

    I call them "win points".

    it's a fantrax term...

I agree SO's shouldn't be its own category. SV's are good as it encourages teams to PLAY goalies if you have W SV SVPCT GAA -- you now have 2 cats that require G starts to win. rather than no saves and a team is more willing to ride a Mon. shut out to win goalie cats.

I've got decades worth of experience in a league where the only goalie category is SV% with a shutout bonus. Some experience with total saves.

Total Saves gives a lot more goalies viability, and will give more options to jury-rig a combo in net. You'll want goalies who see a ton of shots against, and reliably save a good percentage of them over a number of years. Ieally, they've been on a team that plays that style, and are above average at delivering quality starts.
