I got lost when people started saying Avg and OBP are likely the same. I thought we were gonna do Avg and OPS.


Either way, if we have "Saves" as a cat, I would prefer it be "Svs+Holds".

MI and CI lower the OF value, which i like because there's so many OF that end up being good. Plus helps me out with drafting 10th because some real good value is gonna drop to me.

As far as MI CI, especially with MI if you do not include that, as a position, the waiver wire will be so rich with middle infielders, their almost is no need to draft those positions till the very end.

After thinking king about it, saves and hold as one cat makes sense because your relief pitchers now only directly controls one cat not two.

If you go with OBP skip right to slugging pct as another cat, because ops has obp cooked into it.

I like the OPS because it brings value to guys who hit triples, doubles, and gets walks. The walks gets lost in fantasy baseball without OBP/OPS.

But like I said, i don't really care what we do, just gotta change my draft strategy to it.

Someone responding to an earlier post of mine (I believe) suggested maybe adding an IF slot instead of specific MI/CI. I like this idea.

Depends on how many slots people want added. If just one hitter/pitcher (and I do suggest both to keep balance), then another Util would be fine by me. If two slots, then and IF and Util works.

My suggestions:

If one hitter/pitcher slot added, then Util for hitting and P for pitching.
If two hitter/pitcher slots added, then Util and IF for hitting, and SP and RP for pitching.

Exaactly...that's what we have to keep in mind. Whatever change we make we could always say it changes this position's value.....but just draft accordingly!

But again.....it's just a change in strategy! A couple years ago MI positions were soooooooooo shallow that you had to draft them early or else you would be SOL. They were like Catchers are now.....

Get what your saying "bot", but everything is a "strategy change" . If we were drafting only shortstops and pitchers, that would require a strategy change, but , would not necessarily make the pool any more fun. Weird?

I think it's best if we get some options narrowed down so we can vote on it soon. That way, we'll have more time for draft preparation.

To ensure it's only the league members voting (and avoid cluttering the boards), maybe it's best just to wait a couple days for Yahoo opening and commish can create a thread for each option. Even if polls aren't possible on there, a simple reply with a vote should be good enough.

Is eliminating average really something that was discussed? I guess I missed that!

I thought we were talking about eliminating the 6th stat vs changing it to OPS?

I like 5 x 5. Avg and OBP are so similar. If you win one, then you win both most likely.
