I don't like any of them.
The potential ownership group of a potential NHL team in Seattle has registered 13 team names.
The 13 names are the Cougars, Eagles, Emeralds, Evergreens, Firebirds, Kraken, Rainiers, Renegades, Sea Lions, Seals, Sockeyes, Totems and Whales.
Some of them are pretty bad:
Seattle Kraken - Does not flow
Seattle Totems - Does not flow
Seattle Whales (Too close to Vancouver who is already has a Whale as a logo)
Ones that I like:
Seattle Sockeyes - I think it has a nice ring to it.
Seattle Cougars - Its a cat that doesn't exist in major professional sports very much. Although Prince George Cougars are close by.

All terrible.
The Whales? Your closest rival still uses a whale in their logo and there has already been a 'Whalers', What the what are they thinking?
Supersonics please

There will be a lot of nostalgia votes for the Rainiers. It is a symbol of our city, our first baseball team was named the Rainiers. And our brewery pumped out that delicious golden draught, Rainier Beer.
I would be good with Seals. The rest of them fail.

Not very creative, very safe choices so they dont piss of any special interest groups.
Grinders (coffee connection)
Stoners (heh)
metropolitans ?
Seattle Metropolitans has been bandied about. It was our hockey team about 100 years ago that won the Stanley Cup. Seattle was the first American city to win it, BTW.

It would be lame if it were the cougars, since that's the same species as the Florida Panther, just a different name for the same cat.
Sockeyes is good in my book.
