I've gotta think that Garth Snow has his eye on another goalie. Makes some sense, too; gets him out of the conference, and I would think the price would be a forward prospect or a pick, which Snow has to trade. Much more than that and I just don't think it's worthwhile for a goalie who'll be at most a 1B type guy for now.

That was my hope as well- it makes so much sense on paper. Would they then have to wave Greiss or Halak- how does that work?

If the Islanders acquire Dell or any other goalie (like Lehner maybe), they'll probably give Halak as part of the return so that the other team can use him as one of their goalies for rest of this season, and his contract expires in the summer.

If San Jose wants to make the playoffs this season they'll need both Jones and Dell, so I doubt he gets moved unless SJ is waaay out of it. But since the NHL decided "Go to OT and you get an extra point" I doubt SJ will move him at the deadline. At the draft is when he likely moves

Yea I was thinking the same thing. I was kind of echoing a few articles but even they were stating hes more poised to become fulltime in the off season ala Darling. Meh a handful of quality starts down the stretch with 1a keeper potential is intriguing. Grabbed him off waivers in one league- and maybe looking at Gourde plus a pick in my big dynasty...

Jones hasn't been good enough for SJ to trade Dell.
But with regards to NYI, it wasn't that long ago when they waived him and sent him to the AHL last year and it looked like they were on the path to parting ways, a trade, and/or terminating contract. I don't think there's a feeling of commitment to Halak.

Friends and myself were just discussing this. Names Like Raanta, Dell and Lehner have been bounced around. Not sure any of them will get moved until the summer, if at all. Isles could easily Olympics.wave Greiss if Halak isn't part of a trade. he would easily clear waivers with his play and price tag.
Edit: We were also wondering what it would take to get Sorokin from the KHL after the Olympics.

Sorokin would have to buy out his KHL contract which would cost him more than what the Isles can offer him as entry level contract. So in other words, it won't happen.Originally Posted by islefan31
