raanta for starts... Dell for stats. Dell is only going to play 1/3 of the games whereas Raanta if he can stay healthy will get 2/3 of the games.
Hi everyone,
Who do you reckon would be a better choice as 3rd goalie ROS? (league in signature).
Cheers for your insight!

Cheers @Lucafen4! In terms of point production, you reckon despite playing only 1/3 games, Dell will have equal or more? (given that Raanta's good play will not always gain a win due to Yotes' poor offense)?
Cheers!

I assume you start 2 G's per night... meaning Raanta or Dell would only get off-night starts or subbed on rest games. If that's the case, I would prefer Raanta. With Dell, you run the risk of missing most of his starts due to always plugging Andersen & Schneider. At least with Raanta you've got better odds of catching games he is the starter in. In your format, Raanta should give some positive points in every game. I also think Arizona plays a bit better in the 2nd half.

In a Roto league or a league where there is maximum games played where it is more important to increase your points per game then Dell.,
But in a non-roto league without a maximum # of starts then I would want Raanta.
For a 3rd goalie, I'd want Dell. He's only going to get spot starts as it is.
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League
25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt
Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink
G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger
"Cleavage is like the sun. You can look, but dont stare.. Unless you're wearing sunglasses."
Points for Saves you have to go with the starter. Raanta it is.
If Jones continues to struggle then Dell could be worth an own as his starts will go up a bit.
10 team H2H points league (keep 4) - G, A, P, PPP, SHP, SOG, Hit, Blk, W, GA, SV, SHO
C - Draisatl (c/w), Seguin (c/w), Aho, Couturier, Backstrom, Lindholm (c/w), Monahan
W - P Kane, Hall, Wilson, E Kane, Dvorak, Lee
D - Burns, McCavoy, Chabot, Werenski, Dahlin
G - Vanacek, Merzlikins
but that lowers the odds of him starting on a night when Andersen and Schneider isn't. if Dell gets 25 starts a year, you could potentially only get to use him 5-10, depending on which ends of b2b they use. Least with Raanta, you're going to have the odds he's playing on those off nights

GP GAA SPCT
Raanta 17 2.82 .916
Wedgewood 13 2.98 .909
Hill 3 3.76 .880
Domingue 7 4.33 .856
I get what you're saying but Raanta is snuggly between Wpg and Anh. for GAA... not all goalies are equal, we can thank two for skewing their stats this season. Raanta makes this closer with his individual stats vs. Yotes team stats

That's a fair point. Raanta does not need to bear the brunt of Domingue's sins.
We could take it further and compare Dell to Jones and say that Jones 2.62GAA is dragging Dell down. And, that Dell on his own gives up 1.76GA per games which puts him half a goal a game better than the best team's average (LA 2.34).
....
but then we would argue about sample size and the whatnot... Fun arguement. LOL
