This is a relief. The fans can now move on from "call up Subban", "give him a chance".

Hopefully it doesn't turn into "Benning is an idiot, he should never have traded Subban".

We are going to find out that, yes Subban is an NHL defenceman. Who do you think knows what he is doing here? Rob Blake the Hall of Fame D, or Benning?

All of these little moves that Blake has made so far are working. This one will too.

From a micro perspective, definitely not.

From a macro perspective, a rebuilding team trading a 22 yo defenceman for a 27 yo career fourth liner is really not the proper way to do that whole rebuilding thing.

I think this is more a deal of Benning not believing in Subban & being down two Centre's and not having one he can comfortably call up to fill the void.

I think it's more of Luc Robitaille knowing that Benning needs help down the middle and he was able to pluck a promising young Dman in order to "help" him out with a bottom six type of center.

I don't see Subban becoming a fantasy relevant option outside of the absolute deepest leagues. 30+teams. More of a Shinkaruk trade than a McCann IMO

Time will tell. Dmen normally take longer to develop so I think it's safe to say we haven't seen Subbans ceiling yet. I also think it's safe to say that we've seen Dowd's ceiling.

agree on both fronts... I'll be shocked though if we're having conversations in 5 years time about Subban regarding 12 team leagues that start 4Dmen
