Mete is a nice add, but getting Jost would be a bigger boost IMO.

Avalanche teenagers Tyson Jost and Sam Girard aren't WJC candidates for Hockey Canada

    http://www.denverpost.com/2017/12/09...-wjc-candides/

There is very little or no chance Avalanche rookies Tyson Jost and Sam Girard will be loaned to Hockey Canada to play in the upcoming World Junior Championship in Buffalo, Avs coach Jared Bednar said Saturday after an optional morning skate at the BB&T Center. "It's not up to me, but if it were I'd say no. They're part of our team and we need them," Bednar said.
Jost and Girard, both 19, said they haven't had any conversations with Colorado general manager Joe Sakic or anyone else with the team about playing in the under-20 WJC, which begins Dec. 26. Sakic was at the NHL board of governors meetings this week in Palm Beach, Fla., and he rejoined the team Saturday in Sunrise. He told The Denver Post he will do what's best for the continued development of Jost and Girard, but he doesn't anticipate making either of them available to Hockey Canada for the WJC.

Looking at the names do we assume these are maybe the locks to make the team?

Being scratched for the first game is usually a good sign for players. I’d say Timmins, Thomas and Formenton wouldn’t be locks, but you could classify the others as such.

The way Thomas has been playing it wouldn't surprise me if he was. And knowing that Canada is looking at a very well rounded team, him and Formenton definitely fit that bill. Plus having the chemistry from playing together in London doesn't hurt (Remember the Olympic Canada also tries to focus on pairs from the same team when possible).

I know less of Timmins, so I won't speculate too much there, but looking at the combo of names, that's my bet. I would be surprised if even one of these guys was left off the final roster.

lines at first practice of selection camp

    Katchouk-Glass-Raddysh
    Gadjovich-McLeod-Lind
    Comtois-Howden-Steenbergen
    Kaspick-Ang-Batherson
    Dube*-Thomas-Suzuki
    Formenton-Steel-Kyrou

    * Dillon Dube in yellow non-contact jersey
These were the lines on day one, so I think you’re probably right regarding Thomas and Formenton. And Timmins was skating alongside Mete.

I wish... I do wonder if Canada has the horses to keep up. We saw 2 years ago what a dominate line can do in this tourney - Finland. I wonder if Finland can do that with Tolvanen & their D this year or if the Pettersson & that back end for Swe can do it this year

I think it's too early to make that assumption. They all probably get a couple of games before they make their final decisions. Some of the names there are definitely locks but I don't see Timmins, Steel, Thomas or Formenton being locks just yet. They just have so much talent that not everyone can play all the games. And Dube was injured, wasn't he?

I'm surprised they're not using Suzuki and Gadjovich on the same line.

I think the only locks are the returning players. After that, it's anyones guess who sticks and who gets cut.

    Come on Gadjovich!

He had 46 goals last year in the OHL and is on a tear now, I hope he can capitalize on this opportunity. He plays a power forward kinda game - I would highly recommend GM's to scoop him up if he's available in your league, especially for leagues that count SOG, Hits and PIM.

This could be his coming out party.
