It’s too bad our old pal Dutch isn’t around to explain how Holland possibly failed to qualify for two straight major international tournaments in a row.

I was going to make 8 separate posts for round robin predictions and discussion (similar to what hockeyrobot did for the Stanley Cup playoffs) but after seeing the amount of activity this thread got I think it would just end up being considered spam.

So yay or nay for Group Stage threads?

Soccer always has been and always will be my number one sport. I still play and follow the top European leagues. The World Cup is the greatest sporting event in the world and my very earliest clear memory is from World Cup 1990. So of course I was hoping to see some more excitement around the forum about it.

Have you seen lots of the football threads and baseball threads? Lots of them have little action but no one has been expelled for starting one of them. If its something you are passionate about I am all for you starting the threads and seeing where it goes. Maybe you will find a good following of dobberites that are into the World Cup. I was considering following closer cause it is coming to home soil here right?! And Canada might actually get to play in it?

Morocco has put together a very strong bid for the 2026 World Cup, that along with the anti-Trump sentiment among FIFA voting nations make it look like the U.S., Canada, & Mexico bid is bound to fail. It could go either way though, the vote is in 3 weeks. I'm not sure about Canada being granted a berth though if games were held here.
