Carey Price (lower body) will be off the ice for a couple of days because his recovery is not going the way he wants it to.
Price hasn't played since Nov. 2 because of a lower-body injury and his recovery has stagnated. The Montreal netminder insisted that he will be back soon and said he would be playing if it were a playoff game, but this "minor" injury has already kept him out for a while. Nov 14 - 11:34 AM

Apparentley there are rumors going around Montreal that his wife has given him an ultimatum. According to a Habs reporter, Rejean Trembley, Carey's wife told him, "We leave Montreal or we get a divorce". I actually believe this to be true.

I don't believe it at all. If this was true, why would Price sign a long-term deal in the offseason? They'd be better off waiting until he was a UFA next summer and leave that way.

Hard to turn down 10.5 million a year for 8 years I would think. Then let the chips fall where they may. He may not have gotten that as an UFA. Montreal had to be happy about that as well as they can at least get something for him.

10.5mill=like 4.75-5mill take home in montreal. Could easily have gotten that take home pay somewhere else.

I believe this rumour a full 0%. Many hockey wives don't live in the city the player plays in. Just move to the city you want to live in, and Carey Price can live there in the off-season. It's clearly not ideal, but giving him that ultimatum feels like skipping a step, or using the city as an excuse for something between them.

It's a big rumour to give reason to why he hasn't played well.

    Here's another link

For what it's worth I heard Price was traveling with the team on this road trip.

That bad eh? Surprised anyone would want to play in Canada.

Yes, Price is travelling with the team. I'm hoping he stays in Montreal. The next few weeks will tell.

Montreal is like a 54% tax rate for NHL players (high salary i guess)

Down to 49.7, (http://www.tsn.ca/talent/westhead-wh...-time-1.106798), but still, just crazy....and yes it does vary by province.

As for the rest of us, we are not much better off as we end up paying 43.4% in Canada. Our tax freedom day is around June 8. We are basically slightly majority business partners with the govenment, but thats another topic.

This was a great chart showing just how much taxes affect their net income in different cities. Stamkos with $9.5M salary actually gets more than Weber with $12M salary.

The idea is that you end up making more money on the side in Canada vs in the States, and the whole preference of living in your home country, or the country you called home at one point (CHL, AHL). Personally if I was to sign somewhere I would 100% play for my home town Leafs, but I would also eventually sign somewhere like Florida or California based on cost of living, taxes, social life (not being bugged) and weather.

But the whole "my life is already here" is huge for someone who's involved with the city outside of hockey like a guy like Carey, Subban, Karlsson, or Alfy/Sundin back when. Eventually you do have to think 5million is still 5 freaking million.
