If you get a top two- then MAYBE you have a good shot at breaking even? Theres also a possibility you do much much worse and in a best case scenario you still likely add to your wait time.

You didnt actually cashed in on the hype. You traded a lottery ticket for a different ticket in next weeks draw. Had you added ANY plus Id be much more sympathetic- lol! You sold high on the buzz... for different buzz. For the record- you did the opposite of mitigate risk. You just traded risks :P
I highly doubt he becomes better than Hischier, who's already in the NHL and has top 15 5-on-5 production in the league. Also, Pettersson's SHL numbers are more impressive. There are a couple of other prospects from this year's draft that may be better too. And I would take any of Dahlen, Svechnikov, Zadina or Tkachuk over him as well.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

But yeah, the Olympic hype is getting out of control. He scored all his points against Germany, Norway and Korea. Zero points against Sweden and Canada. I don't really understand why people are getting so excited right now. But I guess most hockey fans haven't been watching him in the KHL.
It really is bizarre that the hype is at its peak now as opposed to when he was ripping the KHL in September and October. He has slowed down significantly there to the point of actual concern over his long-term scoring potential. He scored at the Olympics playing against scraps.

Agreed. He?s slowed down considerably. Had an uninteresting junior tourney too.

Would you cash him in for a Knights player like Reilly Smith?

Oh man, great question. I probably would take Reilly Smith, that whole bird in hand thing.

Most 18-year-olds have scoring slumps when they're playing professional hockey, it's not a concern over his long-term scoring potential. His hot start was unsustainable in a league as good as the KHL.

I seriously don't understand what tournament people were watching because Tolvanen was very good at the World Juniors. He was definitely one of the best players on the Finnish team.

I’ve said it once I’ll say it again he would’ve lead WJC in SOG if he played seven like everyone else. I guess since Dahlin has one assist in the Olympics we should write him off because he can’t score nor play every game against these beer leaguers.

Might be more than just a goal scorer?

This is nothing new. I think I've said it multiple times, even in this thread, that he doesn't mind physical play, he plays a North American style, and he can throw a hit. It's not a huge part of his game, so I wouldn't expect more than like 40-50 hits over a full NHL season but it's a positive sign that he can make the transition to the NHL. Some prospects take a while to get used to the physicality but I don't see it being a big problem with Tolvanen.

The equivalent of two full games in, we're still tied. Going to 4th OT.
