Seen quite alot of them this preseason (and yeah its only the preseason) and they look ugly!!! No depth.
Shea Weber looks to have lost a step(but Ill give him the preseason benefit of the doubt) . Love Mete & Drouin/Price are awesome. But after that they got major holes.

    Thoughts?

I might be the only one, but I think the team is actually better than last year.

To answer your question anytime Price is healthy the Canadiens have a chance to make the playoffs.

I think they're in danger of falling out but that was my belief before preseason. My opinion isn't swayed by meaningless games. I'll let the media and gullible fans overreact to stuff happening in September.

We will see. Price can not carry the team on his shoulders.

Am leaning to the no side. They were pretty frustrating to watch last season, we got Drouin which is nice but don't think it's quite enough yet.

I think losing Markov is going to hurt. I have them missing but not by a lot.

i dont think they will unless price steals enough games.

i think 5 metro teams (pit, wsh, nyr, nyi, cbj) will make the playoffs, leaving 3 spots for the atlantic (tb, tor, bos) in my books.
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.

Only you and Marc Bergevin believes that.

Like Praba said. Price. If Price plays 60+ games, the Habs will make the playoffs regardless who is playing in front of him.

It's up to Price. If he steals enough games they might squeak in.

Unless they address the lack of D, they will be a bubble team...but yeah, the Price is right.

His parents didn't name him Carey randomly IMO

I think he's going to have a Vezina-worthy season and get the Habs in the playoff picture prior to the deadline. What management does with that cap space/what's available will determine how they get in and how far they might go though...

    haha I'm ok with that.

Maybe a shade of rose coloured glasses.

I think the d core we end up with will take some time, but they'll gel eventually.

Mete will get his a few NHL game showcase and then Jerabak will probably will get called back up from Laval.
A d core of Weber, Petry, Alzner, Schlemko, Benn and Jerbaek.

I think the forward group we have this year is slightly better than it was last year.

Hudon should stick with the club and hopefully Lehkonen and continue to progress.
Byron should obviously dip in production, but hopefully Hemsky and Hudon can cover that.

    Pacioretty - Drouin - Gallgher
    Galchenyuk - Danault - Hemsky

I too like them as a unit but they definitely lack the firepower, physicality and depth of the elite teams in the league. They need a top-line forward to have a guy like Gallagher or Hemsky trickle down a line or 2 to add some scoring talent in the bottom-6 (and more importantly, address the lack of elite firepower on that top-6).

The D is not perfect, but as you say, if they gel together, I think they can surprise a few (think Pittsburgh last year).

A healthy Price is, as usual, key to any potential success the team may have.
