    Default Goalie dilema

So I have Price and Vasi.
If I take a 3rd Goalie, which I think could be wise. Do I handcuff Vasi with Budaj (I dislike him besides last year's numbers) or pickup one or both of Niemi and Miller. Theirs a chance I get none just trying to strategize before a waiver draft.

I would like to have Miller behind Gibson personally. Gibson always seems to get injured so Miller could see quite a few starts behind a good Ducks team.

You have to remember Budaj played behind the Kings last year which helped his numbers and in his 6 games with Tampa Bay last year had a .898 save percentage and a 2.80 gaa.

What are your goalie categories, and do you have max starts? Those matter, a lot.

its hard to predict, but i would count on Gibson getting injured over Vasil not being good enough to the point that TB turns to Budaj. i don't like any of those 3 options to be honest but i would go with Miller if i had to choose.

I don't have a lot of faith in Vas but I like TB as a team this season, so by default I think that means I'm advising you to grab Budaj.

Once a fantasy GM has two goalies, the best bang for his buck is to handcuff the riskier goalie.
That back-up goalie is going to slide, because it has limited value to anybody else... and tremendous insurance-value to you.
So, yes, Budaj - at the right spot - should be drafted.

And you can kind of feel out the back-up goalies coming when both Luongo & Reimer go off the board, then maybe Niemi, and Budaj is probably the 3rd-5th best back-up in NHL, for risk/reward - IMO.

(In RHRS, for example, Connor Hellebuyck isn't on anybody's radars. But I drafted Mason - and more than anything, I absolutely NEED 82gp from Winnipeg goalies... so I took him 4 rounds, rd22, before end of 25 round draft.)
(In WHL pro re-draft, I took Antti Niemi (PIT) at my first opportunity, because I own Matt Murray... and I absolutely NEED 82gp from Pittsburgh games.)

I get the security the handcuff brings.. but Pitts has 19 B2B and Ducks have 11... these back ups are going to get some work.

You own Price and Vasilevskiy in a 2 goalie start per week, I'm standing pat there and using the extra roster spot on a skater.
