    Default Senators Andersen

I have the 3rd 5th and 12th overall pick in my upcoming draft tonight. My question is should I use the 12th overall pick to select Andersen (if he's still there) strictly for trade bait? There's a GM selecting 4th overall who doesn't have any goalies. So providing he's still there on the 12th should draft him?

It's always risky to draft based on the perceived needs of others. A lot of this depends on your own needs and who is available at that time.

If you know that there are owners in particular who will be targeting a goalie and like Anderson, I don't mind you snagging him if he is the best value on the board. But there are no guarantees that you will be able to trade him for a return that you consider fair. It's a risky strategy but it can work. It's hard to give advice though because it requires knowledge of the other GMs in your league and how they value goalies and how much they like to trade.

The GM with no goalies will for sure be taking Andersen. He'd be stupid not to. Only other names not taken are Luongo and Varlomov. Literally every other starter is taken. Only the backups are left.

Then it's probably a safe bet that you could trade him to him, unless another GM trades him another starter. You'd want to jump right after the draft to make a move. Just remember that other savvy GMs are probably doing the same
