    Default #1 Waiver - Week 1 edition

The only saving grace of 10th pick is 1st waiver! 0.5 PPR, 5 pt bonus at 100 yards rec or rush

    Tarik Cohen or Kerwynn Williams?

Cohen looked like a stud but I do not expect the Bears to be a good team. Howard will be the GL back there I would think.

Williams doesn't look special, and talks of ARI bringing back CJ2K are a bit of a concern.

    Thoughts/other suggestions?

Cohen would be a nice addition. Do you have team needs or is this a luxury pickup? Do you reset the wire each week or is this your one big add for awhile? I would like Cohen a lot more if it was full PPR but easily over K Williams. As I fully expect then will bring back CJ. If you need WR help more than RB help K Golladay could be a nice addition.

This would be a luxury pickup. Golladay is also available. I don't have to use the claim, it doesn't reset each week. I'll be 1-0 after this week albeit an ugly win.

    Team is

    QB - Wilson
    WR - Green
    WR - Hopkins
    WR - Thomas
    RB - Freeman
RB - Sproles (Martin after suspension)
    TE - Olsen
    Flex - Watkins
    Flex - Moncrief

    BN - Conner
    BN - Martin
    BN - Rawls
    BN - C West
    BN - McFadden

As you can see, trying to hit a lotto ticket with the RBs

I would hold onto it then and wait for a surefire starting option to open up through a injury. That is defiantly a interesting way of drafting your bench. I have never seen a team fill it with just one position. I doubt it will happen but if Cohen clears I would scoop him up quickly.

At this point I wouldn't bother, but I'd want Golladay or Kupp (if avail) over Cohen or Kerwynn. I own DJ in a league and I'm not wasting my time with Kerwynn.

I would go after Cohen. Even though he's not the starter (which doesn't matter as much as people think), he clearly has a role in this offence.

I thought Cohen looked really good - and a very different look from Howard.
This is not the Bears year, so I see no point in them leaning too heavy on Howard.
Cohen should get a lot of carries - even if they are not goalline carries, he could be a steady 40-60yard/gp guy with the odd TD every 3rd or 4th game.

    Thanks everyone for the input.

I've thought about holding the #1 waiver, but guys in this league do not tend to keep their waivers too long. I figure if I use it in week 1 I'll probably have top waiver again by midseason.

It looks like the crowd is swaying towards Cohen.

    Cohen!

With all the injuries at WR, the bears will easily make use of two feature backs, and Cohen has already proven his effectiveness catching the ball.

I'd also go for Cohen here. I've typically got no problem holding the waiver claim, but I think Cohen makes sense.
Aside from anything else, as the clear passing downs back, I think game script will give him a pretty sizable role this year on a week in/week out basis.

The Bears continued loss of WR bodies also bodes well for Cohen maintaining a role here, regardless of Howard's presence and almost assured status as the 1A and goal line guy.

As time goes on, I also think he'll have significant trade value to certain teams in your league if you should need to upgrade elsewhere.

And I also agree with rataylor re: Kerwyn Williams: I've got DJ in two leagues, and of the several options I'm exploring in both, K. Williams isn't among them.

In a luxury sense, Cohen is not worth using the first waiver on. If Langford got hurt then yes. But he didn't and Cohen at best is in a 50/50 timeshare for the time being.

Williams is also not worth the add. Yes he's the best option for Arizona but nothing says they won't go full blown committee. I don't trust the online or Carson Palmer.

All day Golladay makes the most sense but not quite sure hes worth the number 1 waiver. Its week 1. Not sure im rushing to puck up any of the guys listed here.

I ended up making a last minute decision and taking Golladay. Also put a waiver in on Cohen and got both!

A few other notables that cleared waivers (surprisingly) that I scooped up were Buck Allen and Carson - great day on the wire. Our WW is usually really competitive each week, this was an odd one.

    Repped those that I can.
