Clearly this means Girard is making the team. Lol

I think it's more likely that they pull Rinne out of the net and turn him into a Chara-lite on defence

If they did that, they'd have the advantage of having to start their best goalie

    Exactly!
See, coaching in the show wouldn't be that hard...

Put me also in the camp that says Ekholm won't get a bump. They don't want him in that role.

I agree Ekholm does not see a serious bump, but what about Subban? Any chance he and Josi run the first unit for stretches? I think that would make for an incredible #1 PP unit. It looked practically unstoppable the few times they put them together on the PP in the playoffs. They played catch back and forth and either player can fire a howitzer.

Does this help PK at all? Weren't they using him on the second paring last year for a bit? Would he now be with Josi on PP1 going forward? Man I hope he can get back to the mid 50's to low 60's range.

I'd say yes, at least initially. They might tinker around with options if they start a bit cold.

The problem with that is that point shots are one of the lowest EV ways to run a PP in the NHL.

Though I mention their respective skill at point shots, it is certainly not the only assets Josi and Subban have in the bank. Everybody is well aware that both players also possess exceptional play making ability, vision and poise on the PP. My point is that this capacity to always be a threat for a one timer, from either side of the ice, would be an added weapon that would make defending a Nashville power play that much more difficult.

Ekholm 12 points in 19 games. Career high in in TOI and PP time and SH time. He already has more than half the points he had last year.

For those who didn't think Ekholm would benefit from the Ellis injury........missed a great opportunity here.

    No idea.

You don't mess around with a knee surgery though.

They said it would be around Christmas time back when this article came out so Id plan that way.

I wonder what Nashville does with their D when he does get back.

I might be selling Ekholm in my one keeper league soon.
