Dolphins/Buccs Game - PPD to Week 11

I had heard they were planning to play in Atlanta's new stadium... I guess that didn't go through.

I mean. Whining about it being fair is just ridiculous. It's not fair that the Patriots get 7 bye weeks, but there it is. It's not fair that the AFC South gets to play Bortles 6 times, but there it is. It's professional sports. Lots of things are not fair.

It sucks, but the decision was made. I personally think it's not right what the league decided and i think the owner heavily would have pushed for the game to be scheduled on the bye week based on dollars. But Miami does play Jets/Bills twice this yr, but their schedule of Pats, Broncos, Pats, couldn't have happened at a worse time (week 12-14).

Just means Drake (Ajayi's backup) should be handcuffed if possible by Ajayi owners in fantasy. Oh well, is what it is.

He’s trying to give a reason why it shouldn’t matter, so he went with the generic “life isn’t fair” line. The multiple Bye weeks per team he’s explaining is him saying it’s not fair the Patriots are so good 7 games this yr are almost sure-thing wins.

I would argue that the conditioning of players isn't the biggest fair/unfair factor here.
General "fan community" probably looks at a bye week as a chance for players to rest/heal.
But in modern day, I think the extra week is supremely beneficial to planning for opponents, scouting/coaches/strategy, etc. and relaying that into player/play-call performance.
I would even assume that teams plan for perhaps a 2nd and even 3rd opponent beyond that first-after-bye-week.
Most teams (I assume) only focus one week out (with maybe a few advance scouts, but not on-field instructional tactics more than 1 week. Players not smart enough to digest 2+ chess moves out...).

A typical player, therefore, especially a healthy-one, won't recognize the benefits of that bye week.
In the southeast, Georgia-Florida plays ever year around end of October.
In fairness, they not only play at a "neutral site", but both teams take their BYE week in advance of that (key) game.

For TB/MIA, they now both have to shelf their planning for each other as opponents for 10+ weeks.
They do have a slight advantage of being able to start planning for their Week 2 opponents...
But I think (esp. for Miami, see below) that is more than offset by never getting that catch-up BYE week to plan for future opponents.

Looking specifically - there's actually MORE teams impacted (some negatively, some positively) by the rescheduling.

MIAMI
Week 2 Miami is @ LAC. They'll have a bit more planning for this game. (Disadvantage LAC, Advantage MIA)
Week 10 Miami comes off a MNF Week 10 game AT Carolina.
Week 11 vs. TB (Miami). (BIG Disadvantage MIA, travel home after MNF, short rest week.)
Week 12 @ New England... and, perhaps, one could chalk this up as a likely LOSS either way. (Big Disadvantage MIA, but maybe they had a fighting chance @NE on two weeks rest.)

TAMPA BAY
Week 2 TB is home to CHI. This should be a win either way, but TB does have some extra planning time now. (Disadvantage CHI, Advantage TB)
Week 10 TB is home to NYJ. This is about as good as it gets for TB... situationally, rolling into a Week 11 game.
Week 11 @ Miami.
Week 12 @ Atlanta. TB would've had two weeks to prep for this game, now they'll have one. One might chalk it up as a LOSS either way, but they would've had a fighting chance on TWO week rest vs. ATL who does have Week 11 MNF vs. Seattle!


Overall, sum of all effects in a closed system (the NFL, set amount of wins) is net zero, but it'll feel like a net disadvantage for a lot of teams.
++ NE, plays Miami Week 12 on shorter rest.
++ ATL, plays TB Week 12 on shorter rest.
0 TB, advantage to them in Week 1, "relative advantage" vs. MIA in their Week 11 remake, disadvantage in Week 12 @ ATL
- LAC, disadvantage due to MIA getting more planning for Week 2
- CHI, disadvantage due to TB getting more planning for Week 2
-- MIA, big disadvantage in coming out of both Week 10 into 11... and 11 into 12. (they do get small adv. over LAC in Week 2 planning)
