Agreed. It's very poor form to open up with a super lowball offer by offering 2 4ths and a 5th for the #19 overall and then start chirping and be shocked when you get a lowball counter. That simply doesn't make any sense and calls into question your sense of player value and respect for the other owners playing in the league with you. I think you'll find that if you put a bit more thought and research into your offers you'll start getting some better counters in the future. Reading some statistics-based articles and increasing your hockey knowledge will help with that. Like I said earlier, you're clearly new to these larger, more in depth leagues, but don't worry you'll get the hang of it after a while. It's all a learning process, you'll figure it out eventually.

Is that really an offensive offer these days? Well fml then cause Ive literally accepted similar deals in this league- this year already. If a deal structured like ones ive recently accepted offends you- thats on you- not me. More likely someone wanted OEL for peanuts and is trying to justify a brutal offer. My 3 and a half cents anyways...

And seeing as we're seemingly ok dropping unsolicited advice heres some fot you:

I think youll find that if you stop looking at offers you dont like as personal attacks- youll make more headway on the trade front. Dont worry champ youll get there one day :P

Your counter, while not one i'd accept, wasn't all that bad considering your starting point. Its a negotiation, and it will take time to make happen, but its close enough now to start real talks. i'm with Daydream, if one of those 4ths gets bumped up, i'm listening, and i'd probably counter with a 3rd and the two 4ths..maybe it dies there?

Here are two examples from my league what I paid to trade up:

2017 10th overall for 2017 50th overall, 2018 2nd round pick (around pick #37) and 2018 3rd round pick (around pick #57)
2016 20th overall for 2016 46th overall and 2016 66th overall

I was happy to trade up with those prices, and I guess the other owners were happy to trade down to get the extra picks. Emu's offer looks bad when you put it like that but it's only like 12 teams in the league? So those 4th and 5th round picks are still pretty good picks. A 4th round pick in a 24 team league is much different from a 4th round pick in a 12 team league, that's always important to remember.

It's only for entry level picks from what the OP says. I can't see much value in the 4th & 5th rounds. By then the cream of the crop has been taken. I for sure wouldn't give up my 2nd rounder to allow someone to grab 2 quality guys so I can get a few fillers. Not to mention the counter was pretty funny. I would have done the same, but mind you, everyone knows each other in my leagues, so they would laugh it off and come back with something better or let the deal die.
