    Default Goalie Addiction

I'm addicted to goalies. I believe in building from the net out and I'm never satisfied in goal. I'm in a keeper league (keep 5 players). My two goalies are Holtby and Dubnyk (other three keepers are Tarasenko, Barkov, Ristolainen).
I've been offered Martin Jones and Frederik Andersen for Tarasenko and Dubnyk.
Am I a fool to think about this offer? Tarasenko is my only elite skater yet the thought of having three legit starters is hard to pass up. Furthermore, I can flip Andersen for Vasilevskiy, who I want. (He doesn't want Dubnyk.)
There are 12 teams in my league and goalies are at a premium.

What are you stat categories? And how many goalies start each day/week?

So the end result is Holtby, Jones, Vasilevkiy, Barkov, and Ristolainen?

I can start two goalies per day, all week.
Yes, that end result I take into the draft. Losing Tarasenko would be tough as I don't have much more offence beyond him.
My problem is that I overthink...I should be happy with Holtby/Dubnyk combo.

And what are the skater categories? This info is necessary in order to weigh the value of goalies vs skaters, and to judge Tarasenko's value in particular.

So with goalies counting towards 4/11 categories with 2 starts per day, I think you're good with 2 stud goalies and a decent #3. Even if you added a third stud goalie, you'd end up benching starts most likely. With only 12 teams and 5 keepers, I imagine there's some decent goalies in your redraft.

    Tarasenko/Holtby/Dubnyk is better than Holtby/Dubnyk/Vasilevskiy

    Keep Tank.

I don't know what your player setup is, but three goalies in a keep 5 is silly unless it's Price/Holtby/Murray.
Keep Tank. If he wants your star forward tell him to pay up, not give you what you already have in spades (and will probably draft more of).

I wouldn't even trade Tank alone for both those goalies in a keep 5. I too like building from the net out, but in your format, there is absolutely nothing to gain in keeping 3 goalies.

in a keep 5, keeping 3 goalies is crazy..especially when giving up teh BPITD in teh process...

Keep Tank... if you can flip your Vasil for Andersen (Tor) I would do that.

I've tried to flip Dubnyk for Andersen but no dice. In our league you lose your draft pick with whoever you keep that was drafted in that round. For example, my first pick was Holtby and I'm keeping him so he automatically takes my first round pick. Dubnyk was drafted in the third round. Andersen, the tenth. So by swapping them I'd get a third round pick back. But that's the primary reason why the other team won't trade. It's a weird rule but really keeps teams relatively even to begin each new season.

Very interesting rule. Not sure I've ever seen that sort of setup before.

I used to be high on goalies but these days I basically leave them for as long as possible and fill those spots up with scrubs. Too much variance in the position for my tastes.
