The Senators asked Phaneuf to waive his NMC Monday, so that he could be exposed to the expansion draft. Now, he would have to be protected unless Ottawa can trade him before submitting their list. That would probably be a difficult task at this time, so Marc Methot or Cody Ceci may be available for the Golden Knights.

He has a 10 team trade list.

It's believed ANA has a pre-arranged deal in place with VGK so it isn't necessary to ask Kevin Bieksa to waive his NMC.
