Not sure what is in this for Vegas. CHI pretty much has to expose van Reimsdyk (assuming none of the NMC players waive) to protect Panarin so they get him without taking on Kruger's overpriced contract. Is Kruger an asset to Vegas?

IMO, you've got to think there's more incentive for the Knights here. They're helping out the Hawks cap situation, so you have to wonder if they're getting back some draft picks out of this or something.

As a Chicago fan this works. We all knew that Kruger was gone and to lose TVR too- that is just bonus! Las Vegas will turn around and trade Kruger or possibly hold onto him till the trade deadline. They could also eat some of his 3 M cap hit to make him even more attractive. For those who don't know, Kruger is an elite 4th line, shutdown center and excellent PKer. He has routinely been given the bulk of Chicago's D zone starts and routinely flips the ice. He also has played with a lot of bum wingers over the last couple seasons. He would be excellent on a team such as Edmonton, Toronto, Florida, or Carolina just to name a few off the top of my head.

I haven't seen the tweet or story on this, but there's another rumour that was shared with me there are talks to take on a bad contract in order to obtain a 1st round pick in the deal. no word on player or team... I'll take that as a softball rumour for now.

I agree with this. I see TVR and Kruger as both being exposed. My GUESS is that the Kruger part of the deal will be similar to the Bickell trade (i.e. Vegas will get extra stuff for taking on Kruger).

I agree with the line of thinking that there has to be more moving parts to make this rumor a reality. A trade taking on Kruger just to ensure they get TVR doesn't pass the smell test. LGK could just take TVR without Kruger's contract. If Chicago decides to trade TVR to get return they are still gonna have to expose Pokka. It's gonna be a fun offseason.

What kind of sweetner do you guys think Kruger needs? He is a little overpaid (500K or so) but he is a very useful player especially to a playoff team. And he only has one year left on his contract. I think he'd be ideal for LV to reach the cap and then trade at the deadline to a contender when his cap hit has been mitigated by games played.
I don't understand why people want TVR. If he is on your top 4, you are going nowhere. At best, he's a 3rd pairing dman. Ideally, he is your 7th dman that is not relied on.

I think Vegas goes for a young squad via expansion and then fills out the roster with some UFA veterans
Gallant is good with kids
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

My understanding is that Panarin is exempt from the expansion draft because he's a second year-pro.
