Wheeler for Barrie+

Manager has interest in Wheeler and said he would be willing to do Barrie plus prospects for him. I told him that I would do Wheeler for Barrie and Puljujarvi but he doesn't want to move Puljujarvi since he just acquired him but said he would do Barrie plus a couple first round picks so I am debating this offer to send to him:

I recently read an article on here about Greenway and how he's becoming a solid all around player so I like the trend he's heading in. Skjei is a great young dman as well as Barrie.

Am I asking too little or is that fairly even? It should be noted that defenseman get 50pts for a goal where Forwards only get 25 so I'm hoping that Skjei and Barrie can pick it up in the future. Both Barrie and Skjei have roughly 20fppg where Wheeler has 30fppg.

Who cares about being even? You want to cleanly WIN the trade. I like Skjei & Greenway moving forward and Barrie is the cheapest 50pt dman around. That said, Colorado isn't going to become Unicorns & Rainbows overnight.

Ha agreed, Colorado is not going to become this grand team overnight especially with the possibility of moving Duchene and Landeskog over the summer. He has quite a few prospects that I like as well such as Bigras, Agostino, Morin, Dickinson and Virtanen that are good options.

In a multi-cat league like yours, Barrie's value takes a hit and Wheeler's is optimal.

True. And I know that I don’t NEED to make this trade but I believe that Skjei and Greenway can put in the peripherals, granted Greenway is a bit of a ways away from being that type of producer but it’s something to at least consider.


Skjei and Barrie are good young men but like Lucafen said, COL won’t be this amazing team overnight. Skjei though is already playing extremely well, he’s tied with Zaitsev in rookie d scoring and only trails Werenski in that regard. So there’s future there for sure.

I like the wheeler side for 3 more years. I don't do this deal.

The only main pieces of his that I like are Brassard, Lucic, Pavelski, Puljujarvi, Brodie, Skjei and Byfuglien.


I know he won’t move Puljujarvi because he told me that he just got him in a trade and not looking to move.


Lucic would be a nice piece but I’d be taking on $11M in salary and only giving up $5M so I’d likely have to drop a player just to keep both.


Brodie seems like the logical move but not sure if he’d be willing to do Barrie Brodie Skjei and Greenway for Wheeler

You could probably get better value if you shopped him around the league looking for a single player in return instead of a package.

Definitely do not need to move Wheeler, and I am certainly not trying to force a trade. I had put it out there that Wheeler was available and after 2 days only NYR has shown interest in him.


Not sure if that is because of his age or salary but most people aren’t wanting to go for him.


I like Wheeler and am more than happy to hold on to him just want what is best for my team in the end, and if that is keeping Wheeler then so be it.

Wheeler is the BPITD so far, so id not wanna do this unless you NEED to. Barrie is nice, but Wheeler is nicer.

Yeah I told him that Barrie is a nice piece but I would need another main piece on top of Barrie and prospects to make it work. Told him that Puljujarvi would be a nice addition but if he doesn’t want to move him then I can’t do much for him.
