Happy to snap him up off the wire a minute ago! May land in a pot of gold on the top line.

Wow, it was fun to follow his evolution over this thread. Is there really enough room for so many small forwards (speedy and skilled nonetheless) in the Hawks's lineup? A top 6 of Kane, DeBrincat and Sikura is not a very large top 6.. Skilled of course, but still.

Ok - now the season is getting closer...

What are some realistic predictions for Sikura?

    Top 6 minutes?
    Top 9 minutes?
    Top 3?
    AHL bound?

    20 points?
    70 points?
    somewhere in between?

Where do you guys see Sikura this season?
    - I said... "God damn this tablet is heavy!"

Top 6 and probably around 40-45. Wouldn't be shocked if he hit 50, though.

Do we expect a progression beyond that in the future, or is it realistic to expect that this will likely be the range of production for the bulk of his prime? i.e. what kind of player are we talking about here: Tyler Toffoli or Brayden Point?

I'd put him closer to Point than Toffoli, but I think that's maybe more of a testament of my low opinion of Toffoli. I just don't see him as more than a Tatar type winger, sure he'll get you 25g, but frustrate the hell out of you in the process. Sikura's got some sick hands, give him the right conditions and he'll give 60pts a year a serious run. Not in year one, but in a couple years. (I just snagged him in the 4th round of my prospect draft)

Honestly I can't say he will be close to them or not. Could be a steady 50 point plus player but I've seen a few pundits put him as a very good 3rd liner. In the right conditions though, he should put up solid numbers in the future on a steady basis but that might not happen for a few years. Just my two cents.

Thanks man and believe as a Toffoli owner I am frustrated he hasn't reached his potential, but a lot of what you are using to describe Sikura is very true of Toffoli. He has great hands, great vision and a very quick/deceptive release on his shot. Injuries and usage have certainly plagued Toffoli, which make me think it has more to do with that than with his skill.

    Thanks for the opinions all.

Leading the IceHogs in goals and points. 2nd in the AHL in SOG and tied for 3rd in AHL rookie scoring. Sikura gets the call up.

You would think the Sikura call-up would come before the Schmaltz trade as a shake-up attempt

seems to be the way things are trending - Leafs run out Kapanen/Johnson, Marner, Nylander - none are big by any stretch. I think Nylander's the largest.. and the softest

I looked around and it's not known ATM. They lost last night and made multiple roster moves so it could be part of a grander shake-up of the lines too.
