Big year for the Rockies if they can stay healthy and get decent pitching. Great pen.

Healthier pitching and another step from their young guys and I can see it.

I was going to take Philly, so I hope you are right. I almost took my favourite team... but then went with my head rather than my heart.

Strategic move or dumb move? Picking two teams from the same division. Guaranteed to win an extra handful of games but guaranteed to lose the same amount. Obviously it only makes sense to try this strategy in the final round when it is slim pickings.

I would say it is a risk/reward move. Drafting two teams from a division that has a 50 win team in it is going to get you a lot of extra wins because your two teams will play that 50 win team more times that teams from other divisions.

But how do you know for sure which division is going to have that 50 win team in it for the top dogs to take advantage of.

We are pretty much picking what team won't suck the most at this point. Total crap shoot.

I think it depends on the teams and who else is available at the time. I went with Seattle, not just because I had picked Texas already, because I wouldn't be surprised if they improved from last year. Who knows, Houston could win the division and that would hurt me a bit because one of my teams would likely have less wins than last year. On the flip side, both Texas and Seattle could have strong seasons and end up averaging more than 90 wins between them again. I figured at that point of the draft, I couldn't be sure if any of the remaining teams would win a division, so I took a shot with one who I thought could come close. At the time, the only available team that had more wins than Seattle in 2016 was Baltimore, and I took a chance that they will not match last year. I could be wrong.

I don't think it necessarily only makes sense when it's slim pickings. You can have two strong teams in one division, you could equally have a mediocre second place team in another. Worth a shot if the other options aren't worth it for you.

For you, I think it's worth a shot because other than the Nationals, any of the others could sneak into second (especially if NY struggles) with an improved season.

I went Atlanta because they are in the same division as the Phillies (should be actually ok, but pitching makes or breaks them), and Marlins (can’t make a step forward). Pretty much I went with a team that gets games against a poor division, even with a couple of strong teams like Mets and Nats.

Giants and Rockies duke it out with Dodgers this yr. God that’s going to be a tough division (NL West).
