Johnson/Elliott

With a 3 goalie max, and successful teams running 3 goalie tandems I've been running w/ Chad Johnson as my 3rd goalie. I'm currently trying for an upgrade w/ manager far out of contention... but still the situation in Calgary is tenuous and I hate the options I have. Elliott has played ok in 2/3 starts last week... Albeit against weak competition. Johnson has given up 4 goals in each and lost his past 3...

Do I grab Elliott, stick with Johnson or go with someone else/streaming tenders?

Varlamov or Pickard
Niemi or Lehtonen
Mike Smith
Ryan Miller
Halak

Given those choices, it's either stream goalies, or hope Johnson gets it together. I'd try streaming if he has one more stinker while on your bench.

I fully expect that this will happen soon. Especially since it seems that Calgary is trying to up Elliot's confidence by starting him against weaker teams leaving Johnson with the brunt of the work against better talent. While this does show that Johnson is still the current #1... it also means he's not getting the benefit of stat inflation by playing Arizona.

Here's to hoping that I can work out a deal for a better goalie!

Elliot typically has a bad start to the season and then turns it around by going on a hot stretch. Just look at his career numbers. Throughout the course of season he will reach similiar numbers. law of average!
