Matthews? for Dubnyk

The Dubnyk owner in a 12 team league is looking to make a trade and expressed interest in Matthews. Price & bobrovsky going down crippled my team entirely last year making me place last. Malkin going center only kind of sucks too.
Hanzal, plekanec and rantanen are plugs.
We keep 7, Price, Malkin, Kessel, Panarin +3 of weber, subban, schenn (hits&pims), matthews, kesler, stone. Ristolainen,
I have too many centers. Should I counter with kesler? he just wont cooldown, or trade away the future star of the leafs.

I wouldn't bother countering with Kesler, he wants Matthews - guaranteed he'll decline as they're on opposite sides of their careers.. Dubnyk is a top 10 goalie over the past couple seasons, so your offer needs to reflect that.

if not Matthews... I would ask for Panarin, Malkin or Schenn ++..

There's value in it... I was stating I highly doubt the Dubnyk owner accepts Kesler for him. by all means try - if you can get it done for Kesler - sweat deal for you - but if he wants Matthews, he's wanting a young stud C, not a 33 year old C - which is why I don't think he accepts. Give it a go by all means though.

Nothing in your initial post mentioned Weber, you said you had too many C's Weber's a D. I don't know why you wouldn't keep Weber, he's nothing but a beast year in, year out. my 3 keeps would be Weber, Subban, Matthews. Weber would give you a better chance of landing Dubnyk than Kesler, IMO... but you'd be leaving a hole on D that you won't be able to fill off the waiver wire. Weber's your best D this year - if you're competing to win this year, you don't trade away your best D.

I agree with lucafen4. I don't think he'll accept Kesler, when he's targeting Matthews. But it's worth trying for sure.

For the OP - I would not trade Matthews for Dubnyk in your league. I think your goaltending is solid as it is and Matthews is a keeper for you. Even if you have too many C... I'd keep him over Malkin if I had to decide between them.
